As a member of the TCDR (Technology, Cyber, Data and Resiliency) team within Capital One’s Retail Risk Office, you will apply your analytical, risk management, and project management skills to support Risk Management Strategy. As a Director, Cyber Risk and Analysis- you will apply expertise on risk best practices to assess current state, identify gaps, and assess tech and cyber risk, threats, and business impact. You will define mitigation strategies, prioritize, negotiate and elevate and implement recommendations. Participate in enabling responsible innovation and in the design and implementation of control programs. You will model deep and hands‑on knowledge of technology and cyber risk assessments, information risk controls, regulatory and internal governance, data analysis metrics and reporting, & customer engagement. Spearhead the integration of advanced tools and agentic AI, driving the modernization and continuous evolution of our risk management frameworks within a rapidly changing digital landscape

Responsibilities:
  • Possesses a understanding of technology systems and topology, including awareness of advances in networks, applications, infrastructure, cloud computing, and data.
  • Maintains a broad understanding of technology risk frameworks, has innate ability to leverage these frameworks in risk identification processes.
  • Demonstrates a broad understanding of major categories of risk, how those risks can occur in a new environment, and the measures required to safeguard the enterprise.
  • Leverages reporting & tools to perform analysis on different types of data points to inform policies and drive change. Understands associated reporting metrics and is able to inform on tech and cyber risks.
  • Quickly and accurately analyzes data, assesses risk, & prioritizes potential risks to differentiate critical, high-risk, and low-risk issues, and remediate and elevate as appropriate.
  • Researches, assembles, and/or evaluates information regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting risk management policies or programs; recommends sound, practical solutions to complex issues.
  • Makes recommendations regarding changes to policy, procedures, and control programs to mitigate evolving risks.
  • Effectively self-challenges tech and cyber control programs as part of first line duties and escalates risks where appropriate. Workds with second line and other enterprise risk teams to ensure adequate risk and controls management oversight and support challenge practices to ensure risk-related matters are addressed effectively
  • Demonstrates sound lifecycle program management to include documenting and communicating action plans, impediments and risks, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Advises Accountable Executives of tech and cyber-related risk on a consistent basis via relevant risk forums and through existing processes such as exception and issue management.
  • Exhibits strong critical thinking skills and ability to navigate the unknown to devise innovative risk management solutions.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 10 years of experience with Technology or Cyber Security Risk Management
  • At least 10 years of experience building control environments
  • At least 10 years of experience in People Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in leading AI programs and governance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in a Large Financial Services or Big4 consulting organization
  • Process or Project Management certification (Lean, Six Sigma or PMP)
  • 15+ years of experience with Technology or Cyber Security Risk Management
  • 10+ years of experience in People Management
  • Cybersecurity and technology risk certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Director, Cyber Risk & AnalysisRichmond, VA: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
