Job description

Description BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Respond to Fire Department incidents and to medical emergency incidents; drive, care for and maintain fire apparatus and property; perform clerical duties; participate in fire prevention activities as assigned and perform related work as required. May involve special assignments such as EMT Coordinator, Plan Review Officer or Hazardous Materials Coordinator. PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in firefighting and emergency medical response is desired.

EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS & TRAINING: Fire Fighter I and II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications.

Must have a State of Michigan Emergency Medical Paramedic License at time of hire. Documents must accompany the completed application. Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver's license with no serious record of misdemeanors, traffic violations, or felony record.

Must have 20/20 vision or correctable to that vision level. Written Exam and Candidate Physical Agility Testing certifications from Conference of Western Wayne Schoolcraft College Fire Training Institutes Testing Program. WORK SCHEDULE: 24-hour shifts (1 on 2 off, 1 on, 4 off) and OT as required.

PAY RATE: $55,533 - $83,281 APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: We are now accepting applications for Fire Fighter to establish an eligibility list for current and future openings. In order to be considered, you are required to complete and to submit the City of Farmington Hills online application along with your current certifications (Fire and EMS Certifications). The Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) and Schoolcraft College Fire Training Institute's Testing Programs certificates must be turned in for the written examination and the candidate physical agility test (CPAT) before hired.
