Job description

Objective of the Position: This position oversees and responds to all customs related compliance requirements for inbound and outbound material movements across borders, ensures compliance with internal customs policies and procedures and works closely with all functions of the company to ensure customs compliance.


Essential Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures that:

  • Classification of goods using GRIs, Legal Notes etc. to develop audit trails
  • Interpret automotive tariff regulation changes, impact, tracking and mitigation strategies
  • Reconciliation analysis, file preparation for CBP filings, and perform internal audits
  • Collaborate cross functional teams to assure alignment and compliance with customs requirements
  • Experience with harmonized tariff code
  • Knowledge of Foreign Trade Zone
  • Analyze product information including bills of material for qualification of origination per US Customs requirements, issue compliant certificate of origin and determine HTSUS classification for products.
  • Ensure timely USMCA qualification.
  • Perform country of origin analysis for exported/imported goods.
  • Ensure parts and products are classified appropriately.
  • Maintain customs records and documentation according to regulatory requirements.
  • Manage third party trade compliance activities and relationships.
  • Ensuring internal compliance with customs procedures amongst various departments: purchasing, logistics, accounting and compliance.
  • Timely response to brokers and customersโ€™ requests for documentation.
  • Develop, document, maintain and ensure execution of internal control procedures related to all customs activity.
  • Assist with making sure international goods transactions are designed and executed in compliance with applicable international trade regulation and in compliance with specific trade agreements when necessary
  • Assist with the design of material and transactional flows to ensure duty and tax efficiency


Secondary Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures that:

  • Conduct all business related activities for, and on the behalf of, Eberspaecher within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements.
  • Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Eberspaecher Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all EETAM polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001; looks for way to improve and promote quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirement Profile

Professional Background / Basic Qualification / Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of US Customs related experience in automotive or manufacturing industry
  • Experience in HTS classification of goods with audit trails
  • CCS, CES, and/or CZS certification or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, ACE and Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations
  • Experience with Mexico / USA operations (Maquilidora setup, IMMEX, Etc)[TJ1]
  • Minimum three yearsโ€™ experience working for a manufacturing supplier preferably automotive.
  • Strong preference for a US โ€“ Licensed customs broker
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office & SAP.
  • Ability to travel domestically by car or plane.
