Who will you be working with?
The US/CA Customs Compliance Region Leader position is responsible for managing and maintaining Wabtec Corporation's customs compliance strategy and enterprise standard for Wabtec entities acting as importer or exporter of record. This position works cross-functionally as a customs compliance subject matter expert to implement and enforce Wabtec's customs compliance enterprise standard, policies, and procedures, ensuring the highest compliance with customs laws and regulations while facilitating business operations.
What will your typical day look like?
  • Lead/responsible for compliance with US and CA Region customs and trade laws & regulations
  • Operationalize the Wabtec Customs Compliance Enterprise Standard requirements
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of local standard work processes in alignment with Wabtec's Customs Compliance Enterprise Standards
  • Drive customs compliance program disciplines and integration timelines
  • Ensure responses to customs-related government inquiries as required
  • Lead Customs compliance issue resolution and address any trade compliance issues that arise in the region
  • Lead/drive effective and timely customs regulatory change communications that affect Wabtec business units
  • Conduct customs and trade compliance training as needed
  • Lead and ensure Region Metric Reporting
  • Customs Broker/Agent and Managed Trade Service provider oversight & management
  • Work with, support, and advise local and global cross-functional business teams to identify, assess, and develop action plans with respect to customs compliance and operations risk abatement
  • Actively liaise with the Global Customs Leader and local business stakeholders, engaging collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
  • Ensure trade compliance requirements support for customer projects across US and CA
  • Effectively coach & mentor direct reports

What do we want to know about you?
  • Bachelor's (higher education) Degree and 9+ years of industry customs compliance experience with people leader experience
  • Licensed Customs Broker or appropriate in-country equivalent certification
  • Deep knowledge of local customs, trade, and other regulatory agency requirements that relate to import and export activities with a focus on US and CA
  • Self-Directed. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to influence others and work cross-functionally to drive results in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and process-focused background that reflects accomplishments in teamwork, integrity, and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a challenging environment
  • Demonstrated program leadership and project management skills
  • Proficiency in English
  • Travel as needed, which could include some global travel

The salary rate for this role is currently $104800-149300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
