Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.
The Parts Inventory Collaboration (PIC) team is committed to delivering high performing production systems and efficient, accurate, secure, and accessible data to support analytics needs across Caterpillar and Dealers. We are looking for a talented and motivated Inventory Manager to lead our PIC production systems team.
The Opportunity:
The Inventory Manager leads the Parts Inventory Collaboration (PIC) Systems Team within the Dealer Aftermarket Collaboration (DAC) organization. They are responsible for the design, functionality, performance, and stability of the PIC solution, relationship with the solution vendor, delivery of related reporting through the PIC Data Analytics Suite, and consultation for the DAC collaboration teams interfacing with Dealer parts teams around the globe.
The focus of this leadership position is continued innovation, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability of the PIC Solution, adjacent technology, data flows, and reporting. The PIC Systems team has an advanced technical skillset and delivers stability and excellence across interfaces, software, and reporting for Caterpillar Dealers and internal partners. We are looking for a strategic, visionary, thoughtful, and conscientious leader to help shape the future of the PIC Solution. Our ideal candidate builds trust through a people-first mindset and drives success by developing and enabling a highly skilled team.

What You Will Do:
  • Principal contributor to roadmap development, enhancement prioritization, and future-state design for the PIC Solution and PIC Data Analytics Suite
  • Technical ownership and subject matter expertise for PIC systems, interfaces, data flows, integration architecture, solution requirements, and operational performance
  • Manage regular engagement with the PIC software solution vendor, including enhancement discussions, issue resolution, release planning, testing coordination, and stakeholder communications
  • Direction of the PIC Data Analytics Suite's design, enhancement, reporting, data stewardship, and continuous improvement, including metric delivery, data quality, data transformation, and modernization initiatives
  • Technical leadership and subject matter expertise for Dealer ERP conversions, new Dealer onboarding, and related system implementation activities
  • Assignment and prioritization of data requests, development work, solution design, and solution testing on the PIC Systems team
  • Developing parts business knowledge, project management skills, leadership skills, and communication/presentations skills on the PIC Systems team
  • Provide direction and leadership for systems-related projects, including scope definition, prioritization, execution oversight, and technical guidance
  • Work with, consult, and assist PIC Analytics team to develop/maintain data structures and reports supporting PIC research and development programs
  • Provide guidance for DAC partners on investigation and problem-solving on systems-related challenges, leading cross-functional teams to solutions
  • Regularly update DAC partners and other stakeholders on PIC Systems initiatives, enhancements, and operational updates

What You Have (Basic Requirements):
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in information systems, data analytics, data science, computer science, supply chain, industrial engineering, math, stats, econ, or similar technical subject matter

  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP): Knowledge of the process, issues and considerations for systematically managing distribution of inventory for multiple plants or warehouses; ability to apply related knowledge and experience in real practice.

  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical strategy and priorities across cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in multiple applicable technical disciplines, such as:
    • Data integration, exchange, and transformation solutions
    • Enterprise data architecture, governance, and stewardship
    • Systems architecture, software platform ownership, and cloud-based data platforms
    • Legacy system modernization and technology implementation initiatives
    • ERP conversions and business system deployments
    • Vendor-managed software solutions and technical partnership management
  • Experience with data management & reporting tools - SQL, Snowflake, Power BI
  • Leadership experience on technical teams or projects
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and processes
  • Advanced degree in information systems, data analytics, data science, computer science, supply chain, industrial engineering, math, stats, econ, or similar technical subject matter
  • First-hand leadership and architectural experience with those attributes listed under "Experience with" above
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams responsible for enterprise software platforms, analytics products, integrations, and vendor-managed solutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading or governing enterprise data integration platforms, B2B data exchange solutions, and modernization of legacy integration architectures
  • Software platform ownership, solution management, or product lifecycle management expertise
  • Strategic vendor relationship management and software solution development expertise
  • Data modeling and advanced analytics knowledge
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, or supporting artificial intelligence and advanced analytics solutions

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
