As the Manager Customs Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring all import and export activities are in full compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations. The Customs Compliance Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, customs authorities, and external partners to streamline processes and enhance the overall efficiency of our global supply chain. You will lead the company's customs efforts and guide the team to align with best practices & standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • People Management & Development: Manage and develop a team of 5 Customs Specialists
  • Training: Train employees on customs compliance policies and procedures.
  • Customs Compliance & Regulatory Updates: Stay informed with changes in import & trade regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant customs laws and requirements. Make necessary adjustments to company policies & practices.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and implement customs compliance procedures & policies. Continuously evaluate and optimize processes to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize operational costs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in FTZ & customs compliance processes, incorporating automation and efficiency measures.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring that FTZ operations are conducted in a secure and compliant manner.
  • Tariff Classification: Secure proper classification of products under the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) and ensure accurate application of duty rates.
  • Trade Agreements: Utilize knowledge of trade agreements & preferential trade programs to maximize cost savings & benefits.
  • Audit & Compliance Checks: Conduct regular audits of FTZ import processes & documentation to ensure compliance with customs regulations and internal policies.
  • Collaboration with US Customs Authorities: Build & maintain strong relationships with customs authorities. Act as primary contact for customs inquiries, audits, and addressing compliance matters.
  • Reporting: Generate comprehensive reports on FTZ & customs compliance activities, audit results, and compliance metrics for management review.
  • Duty Drawback Support: Provide support for duty drawback claims, ensuring the accurate and timely submission of claims to maximize cost savings. Ability to analyze and answer inquiries from US Customs, including researching historical data.
  • Problem Resolution: Proactively address issues related to FTZ operations, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective measures.
