Milliken's Highland Plant, located in Cheraw, SC has an immediate need to hire for a "Unifil Creeler", to hang yarn packages on large industrial knitting machines, that make rolls of fabric used in the roofing industry. At this time, the department is working 40 hours per week on average; we have one opening, on third shift (12am to 8am) We are customer order driven and hours/number of days per week can change. Shift changes for open positions after hire are made by seniority.
Position Summary: This position plays a critical role in supplying the necessary raw materials used by the manufacturing machines in our Weft Insertion Department. The Weft Insertion Creeler is responsible for loading and maintaining yarn packages, which are placed onto creels (hanging pegs) around the machines, that feed the yarn over to linear knitting machines and ensure continuous and efficient loom operation. These machines are used in the production of industrial textile fabrics. This role involves loading, changing, and monitoring weft packages, maintaining yarn quality, and minimizing downtime caused by yarn supply interruptions.This position is located at the Highland Plant in Cheraw, South Carolina and is a 3rd shift position with the hours from 12:00am - 8:00am.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Maintain your personal safety at all times; wear required PPE, immediately report all unsafe conditions, accidents, or near misses; attend required safety meetings and training; follow all safety rules for this location.
  • Load and replace yarn packages on creels in accordance with production specifications
  • Tie-in yarns and ensure proper threading to maintain continuous machine operation
  • Monitor yarn tension, breaks, and alignment; quickly address issues to minimize downtime
  • Transport yarn packages and materials to and from creeling areas
  • Accurately complete production and material tracking documentation
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of creel and surrounding work areas
  • Assist machine operators and technicians as needed to support production goals and perform various other duties as specified by your Lead/Supervisor, or Dept. Mgr.
