Staff Pharmacist, PRN, Gwinnett Service Area

Under supervision of Pharmacy Manager, performs general Pharmacist duties. Maintains pharmacy services in accordance with departmental policies and standards as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Works in concert with Medical Office administration to ensure effective delivery of pharmacy services.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs general pharmacist duties including compounding and dispensing drugs and medicines; reviewing prescriptions to identify overdoses and potentially toxic compounds, bottling and packaging prepared compounds and maintaining records of legend and controlled substances. Provides Pharmaceutical Care for our members including prospective, concurrent and retrospective drug utilization review, screening for drug allergies, monitoring interactions and duplications, following-up with physicians as appropriate, and counseling patients. Interacts and consults with physicians and associate providers when necessary to improve quality of care and improve value; educates physicians and associate providers regarding cost effective therapy and drug utilization goals (e.g. target drug programs and formulary). In conjunction with Pharmacy Manager orients and instructs new pharmacy personnel regarding departmental policies and procedures. Provides drug-related training for pharmacy and other Health Plan employees and providers. Participates in patient education programs and coordinates the development of educational materials as appropriate. Maintains efficient inventory control and purchasing habits. Serves members in a friendly, courteous and expeditious manner, which promotes member satisfaction and retention. Partners with clinical pharmacists in medical office.

Education

  • Bachelors degree (BS) and Graduate of Accredited School of Pharmacy.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Pharmacist License (Georgia) required at hire
  • Basic Life Support

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of formulary systems, inventory control systems, cash control and budgetary procedures for a high volume pharmacy.
  • Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with medical staff and patients.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of fifteen (15) pounds.
  • Complete a Customer Service Assessment.

  • Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment.
