About AGF Capital Partners:

The AGF Capital Partners team is responsible for building a diversified alternatives business, focused on significant growth opportunities in the private equity, real assets, private credit and liquid alternative sectors. Building on AGF's existing alternatives and private markets experience, the team is tasked with developing and implementing a long-term strategic plan to build a multi-boutique alternatives business that will stand alongside AGF's public markets business and expand the breadth of offerings and value proposition to clients.

A small team, designed to be agile in a rapidly evolving segment of the market, AGF Capital Partners operates with a flat structure and in a highly collaborative manner, with each team member working across a range of tasks and leveraging AGF's breadth of resources on behalf of the firm's Affiliate Managers.

THE MULTI-BOUTIQUE STRUCTURE

AGF Capital Partners' multi-boutique structure currently serves three Affiliate Managers, who collectively manage approximately [C$16 billion]in alternative AUM and fee-earning assets across private equity, venture capital, private credit and absolute return strategies. Each Affiliate Manager is founder-led, with deep specialization in its area of focus:

  • Kensington Capital Partners Limited - one of Canada's leading independent alternative asset managers and an innovator in the Canadian private equity market. Founded in 1996, Kensington manages approximately C$2.1billionacross private equity, growth equityand venture capital.

  • New Holland Capital, LLC ("NHC") - a New York-headquartered alternative investment manager that manages over C$11.5 billionin absolute return strategies for institutional clients globally, with a preference for niche, capacity-constrained opportunities.

  • AGF SAF Private Credit Management LP - a partnership with SAF Group, one of Canada's leading alternative capital providers, focused on direct lending to the Canadian middle market via senior secured, unitranche and subordinated debt. AGF and SAF have been investment partners since 2014.

About the Role:

This is a great opportunity to play a supporting role in the development and execution of the AGF Capital Partners' distribution strategy for retail and high net worth investors for the West region (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC).

Based in Calgary, and reporting to the Principal, Wealth Solutions, you will be part of a small team environment with a dedicated Capital Partners fundraising team that is focused on raising capital through IIROC, private investment counsel (PIC) and high net worth (HNW) channels. As AGF Capital Partners expands its manager relationships and strategies, the Associate, Wealth Solutions (West) will be a key member of the team, helping to support the execution of sector priorities.

This role will require you to conduct a high volume of cold calls and emails, while assisting with the management of existing clients.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to acquire strong knowledge of private equity, hedge funds, private credit and other alternative investment strategies.

Your responsibilities:

Reporting to the Principal, Wealth Solutions, you will:

  • Collaborate to support an increase in sales and market share of AGF Capital Partners products.

  • Support business development efforts by conducting high volume prospecting of investment advisors through phone calls and emails.

  • Identify new prospects, set up introductory and follow up meetings with senior team members.

  • Proactively provide a high degree of service and support to develop new and existing advisor relationships through timely and professional client servicing. This includes ad hoc requests such as preparing and sharing material on funds, product questions etc.

  • Coordinate and participate in branch presentations, client seminars, road shows, conferences, and industry events.

  • Conduct regional market research on organizations and people to identify new sales opportunities.

  • Effectively utilize sales tools including technology (CRM, Leads Module) to best achieve required business results.

  • Maintain up to date client information in the CRM database including detailed meeting and call notes.

  • Assist the team with due diligence requests from prospective investors (RFPs, DDQs, investment case studies, online data rooms).

  • Assist with ongoing compliance and administrative tasks.

What You Bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or related field.

  • Minimum 1-3 years of prior experience in a sales role within the financial services industry is a strong asset.

  • 1+ years of sales experience, preferably in a role with a high volume of cold calls and emails to prospective clients.

  • Knowledge of alternative asset classes preferred, but not required.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce, an asset.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Developing presentation skills and proven exceptional telephone skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

  • Excellent interpersonal, judgment & decision-making skills.

  • Self-motivated and ability to be a strong team player.

  • Must have a desire to work in a team-oriented and entrepreneurial sales environment.

  • AGF is a hybrid work environment, requiring employees to work from the office a minimum of three days per week.
