Description:

Position Purpose

This is a Jr. loan position that assists with retail transactions. It will develop a working knowledge of Leighton State Bankโ€™s lending processes. Responsible for completing activities to assist with analyzing, servicing, and closing commercial, small business, agriculture and other applicable loans and businesses in accordance with LSBโ€™s established lending objectives. Assists lenders in managing their respective portfolio of loans and performs activities to help analyze credit opportunities and complete transactions. Maintain and service new and existing customers by utilizing LSB products/services. Acquires knowledge and experience to demonstrate the ability to satisfy customers financial needs in accordance with established objectives, policies and procedures.


Position Accountabilities

A. Demonstrate Outstanding Customer Service

  • Effectively help customers achieve their financial goals by providing customer service that models the values of integrity, flexibility, helpfulness, proficiency and commitment.
  • Assist in branch support by completing basic bank transactions and respond to basic bank customer inquiries; answering phones and completing teller transactions as needed.
  • Under the guidance and direction of the Relationship Management/Development Officer;
  • Cultivate customer relations by investigating and interviewing applicants to develop comprehensive knowledge of the customerโ€™s personal and business strategies and long-term goals; Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting customerโ€™s goals through development and deployment of bank products and services.
  • Collaborate with other loan staff members by utilizing available expertise and staff resources to deliver quality solutions in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with customers by disclosing all terms and conditions of a loan and provide guidance and clarity ensuring full understanding by the customer.

  • Build new relationships by networking with potential customers and community business leaders through participation in community organizations and events.

B. Demonstrate Effective Portfolio Management

  • Under the guidance and direction of the Relationship Management/Development Officer;
  • Assist loan team with timely and accurate completion of credit presentations, including analysis of appropriate data per credit policy, bank procedures, and regulatory requirements. Monitor compliance with loan agreements by working with the loan officer and clients to ensure timely receipt and review of financials, covenant compliance, and other loan agreement conditions.
  • Maintain records and documentation to ensure accurate information is available to complete loan and credit files; Methodically utilize credit application evaluation and underwriting procedures that are aligned with bank loan policy and banking practices.
  • Regularly assist Commercial and Ag loan team with the management and oversight of client business operations; Sustain working knowledge of client business operations through active engagement in order to effectively provide operational and financial advice and counsel.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Management/Development Officer;
  • Participate in and conduct loan closings; Review loan docs for accuracy and completeness prior to closing; Assure timely loan closing and funding
  • Monitor the portfolio which includes but not limited to financial tracking and monitoring of maturing notes, annual reviews and past dues.
  • Appropriately underwriting loan credit and develop appropriate credit structure in relationship to the credit risk
  • Serve as a backup to the Loan Officers as appropriate.
  • Communicate proactively with loan support staff to ensure loan related tasks are completed according to established deadlines.
  • Participate in and make presentations to various Loan Committees.


C. Demonstrate Effective Financial Transactional Processing

  • Record transactions promptly, accurately, securely and in compliance with bank procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a well-developed working knowledge of the products and services offered by the bank; assist customers in determining best options by assessing and identifying customer financial needs and explaining bank product options.
  • Positively respond to customer inquiries; by phone, email or in person; Resolve issues and discrepancies with customerโ€™s accounts.
  • As a part of the overall team of bank employees, this position may be requested to assist in the support of other bank activities; may be asked to complete basic bank transactions and response to basic bank customer inquiries.


D. Demonstrate Commitment to Life-Long Learning and Professional Development

  • Build knowledge and understanding of the credit function of the bank through participation in various training opportunities both internally and externally; Develop and maintain the required skills and working knowledge of the lending function required to effectively cultivate quality credit relations.
  • Become familiar with bank policies and procedures through the study of applicable procedural manuals, regulatory documents and publications related to the banking industry
  • Proactively seek to better meet changing customer needs by remaining current on the application of existing and newly emerging products, financial services and technologies.


E. Actively Contribute to Leighton State Bank Continuous Improvement.

  • Contribute to a positive team environment by cooperatively working with other department team members and bank personnel.
  • Actively participate on bank committees as appointed by Board and Senior Management. Provide recommendations and input on decisions regarding bank strategy, operations and policies as appropriate.
  • Execute strategic initiatives as directed by management.


F. Perform other projects and duties assigned by Senior Management.



Requirements:

A. Education and Experience

  • BA or BS degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or other related field preferred.
  • Prefer related experience, performing commercial credit analysis or lending experience. An understanding of commercial real estate and banking regulations are beneficial.


B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High Customer Service abilities needed. Demonstrated use of providing outstanding customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Strong Analytical and Decision-Making skills needed. Must be able to critically analyze related variables; and logically apply reasoning when selecting goals and making plans.
  • Excellent Communication skills. Demonstrated use of communication to understand and correctly interpret information and ideas presented through non-verbal, verbal and written modes as well as to convey information and ideas professionally to all levels through presentation of words, actions, and documentation.
  • Solid Technology knowledge. Demonstrated use of computers, Microsoft Office Suite software, internet and other electronic means.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task.
