What is a customer relation associate?

Customer Relation Associates are professionals who interact directly with customers to address their inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction. They typically handle customer communication through various channels such as phone, email, or chat, and may also process orders or provide product information. Their role is crucial in building positive relationships between the company and its clients, often serving as the first point of contact. Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a customer relation associate?

To thrive as a Customer Relation Associate, you need strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a background in customer service, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, call center systems, and basic office applications is typically required. Active listening, patience, and a positive attitude help build rapport and resolve customer issues effectively. These skills ensure customer satisfaction, foster loyalty, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

What are some common challenges faced by customer relation associates, and how can they be addressed?

Customer Relation Associates often encounter challenges such as handling difficult customers, managing a high volume of inquiries, and ensuring clear communication across departments. To address these challenges, it’s important to stay patient, actively listen to customer concerns, and use conflict resolution skills. Collaborating closely with team members and utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) tools can help streamline communication and ensure customer issues are resolved efficiently. Ongoing training and feedback from supervisors also support continuous improvement in the role.

Is customer relation associate a stressful job?

A customer relation associate role involves handling customer inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining positive relationships, which can be demanding during high call volumes or difficult interactions. The job may be stressful at times, especially when managing multiple tasks or dealing with upset customers, but effective communication skills and problem-solving can help manage stress levels. Job description

Our Client:
AR Business Brokers is a leading firm specializing in the sales and acquisition of small to mid-sized businesses across the Greater Toronto Area. They provide expert valuation, marketing, and negotiation services, helping entrepreneurs achieve their exit strategies and buyers find their next venture. They are committed to integrity, professionalism, and delivering outstanding results for their clients.

The Mission
You are the first point of contact for entrepreneurs and business owners considering the most significant financial event of their lives: buying or selling their company. Your goal isn't to close a deal, but to build enough rapport and curiosity to schedule a discovery consultation with one of the Senior Business Brokers. Over 80% will be warm leads. Consistency is key to appointments and ultimately closed transactions. This is dynamic position combining elements of account management and call centre discipline.

Location: Mississauga, Ontario (In Person Only)
Base Salary: $40,000-$45,000
Realistic Commission/Bonus: $20,000-$35,000
Employment Type: Full-Time | Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Key Responsibilities
  • Qualifying Leads: Engaging in high-level conversations to understand an owner's "why", discussing the company's services, and identifying if their business meets the valuation criteria.
  • Consultative Setting: Overcoming common objections regarding market timing, confidentiality, and valuation.
  • CRM Management: Maintaining an accurate pipeline of prospective sellers and ensuring seamless hand-offs to the Brokerage team.
  • Strategic Prospecting: Working inbound leads (80%), but also outbound outreach to business owners within specific industries and revenue brackets.
  • Conduct high-volume lead outreach through outbound calling and email campaigns to prospective business owners in the GTA and across Canada. (80% warm)
  • Meet and exceed monthly targets for calls, qualified leads, and booked appointments.
  • Maintain strict schedule adherence.

  • Requirements
    • 2+ years of experience in a similar, scheduler, or call centre role, preferably in a B2B environment, is a strong asset.
    • The Professional Tone: You can speak confidently with CEOs and founders without sounding like a telemarketer (build strong rapport).
    • High Emotional Intelligence: Selling a business is emotional. You must lead with empathy and discretion.
    • Resilience: You view "not right now" as a timing challenge, not a personal rejection.
    • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding activity quotas and sales deliverables is key.
    • Strong English communication and active listening skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts over the phone clearly is a must.
    • Business background preferred (e.g. sales, accounting, general business knowledge)
    • Self-motivated and diligent - able to make repeated calls and treat leads as individual projects.
    • Comfortable working fully in-office with set expectations/targets.
    • Strong note-taking and organizational skills to relay context effectively.

    Benefits
  • Competitive base salary for a similar role.
  • Performance-based incentives based on booked appointments and successful deals.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement into a Broker role.
  • A supportive, professional, and high-energy work environment in the Mississauga office.
  • No benefits are provided in this role at this time.

  • Other companies may call this role:
    Account Executive
    Business Development Representative
    Growth Specialist
