Job description

NOW HIRING!
Metal Building Industry
Director of Customer & Project Operations
A great customer experience in the metal building industry depends on much more than what happens at the point of sale. The quote has to be right. The schedule has to be realistic. Engineering, project management, and manufacturing have to stay connected. And when something changes, someone has to own getting it back on track.
That's the purpose of this role.
The Director of Customer & Project Operations will lead Inside Sales, Estimating, and Project Management while owning the processes and communication that carry a customer from initial quote through delivery and final resolution. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can see the entire order lifecycle, create accountability between functions, and make sure commitments turn into correct, complete, on-time buildings.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Inside Sales, Estimating, and Project Management across the full customer and order lifecycle.
  • Establish clear customer communication standards around kickoff, milestones, schedule changes, delivery, and post-delivery follow-up.
  • Set and defend realistic project schedules while driving on-time delivery and reducing order-to-ship cycle time.
  • Partner with Engineering, Detailing, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Shipping to remove bottlenecks and protect promised dates.
  • Improve quote turnaround, estimating accuracy, bid competitiveness, and conversion performance.
  • Manage change orders and scope revisions with clear documentation, pricing discipline, and schedule-impact communication.
  • Own customer issues through final resolution and help identify root causes behind recurring corrective actions.
  • Coach and develop a multi-functional team with clear expectations, performance measures, and accountability.
  • Standardize quote-through-closeout processes and implement KPIs, systems, and tools that improve visibility and throughput.
Required Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in sales, customer service, project management, customer operations, or related functions.
  • 3+ years directly managing teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience within pre-engineered metal buildings, structural steel, or building component manufacturing.
  • Experience coordinating Sales, Engineering, and Production in a custom or make-to-order environment.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, including experience handling escalations and difficult conversations.
  • Experience using CRM or project scheduling systems and data to manage performance.
  • Proven ability to turn informal processes into repeatable, measurable operating standards.

Work Setup & Compensation
This is a full-time position based in the Pacific Northwest. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Why Join
This is an opportunity to own more than one department or one piece of the project. You'll have visibility across the customer and order lifecycle, lead several critical functions, and work directly with the teams responsible for turning a quote into a finished building. The impact is tangible: better communication, stronger processes, fewer surprises, and customer commitments that are actually delivered.
