Job Purpose
The ProSales Associate Internship is designed for early career individuals who are eager to explore a future in sales within the equipment rental industry. This 10 week program provides hands on exposure to Herc Rentals' people, products, systems, and branch operations. Interns will learn the foundational elements of the ProSales career path while developing the skills needed to pursue future opportunities-including potential placement in the Black and Gold Academy, Herc's premier early career sales development program.
This internship is ideal for driven, competitive, career minded students or recent graduates who want real world sales and operational experience within a Fortune 1000 organization.

What you will do...
Foundational Learning & Orientation
  • Participate in branch orientation, new hire onboarding, and safety training during your first week.
  • Gain exposure to Herc Rentals' systems, tools, processes, and equipment.

Operational Training & Hands On Experience
Throughout the structured 10 week curriculum, interns will progressively build competencies, including:
  • Equipment Knowledge: Learn equipment categories, functions, and applications; understand what equipment is used for and how it operates.
  • System Training: Learn RentalMan basics, including entering reservations, sales orders, returns, and reviewing equipment availability.
  • Customer Service Skills: Answer inbound calls, write reservations, support walk in customers, and assist with return transactions.
  • Branch Operations Exposure: Walk the yard, participate in ride alongs, learn credit approval processes, review fuel reports, and understand equipment release and receipt procedures.

Sales & Field Development
  • Shadow Territory Sales Representatives to observe customer interactions and sales best practices.
  • Visit customer job sites to understand project needs, equipment applications, and sales opportunities.
  • Support lead generation activities and customer outreach efforts.
  • Gain visibility with branch and senior leadership across the organization.

Career Exploration
  • Understand the career path into the ProSales Associate (Black and Gold Academy) program after graduation.
  • Build foundational skills for future full time sales opportunities, including Territory Sales Representative roles.

Weekly Internship Outline (Summary)
  • Weeks 1-2: Orientation, equipment review, RentalMan basics, meeting teams.
  • Weeks 3-4: Counter process training, yard walk, RA entry, equipment availability.
  • Weeks 5-6: Credit processes, understanding pricing.
  • Weeks 7-8: Return inspections, fuel reports, handling calls, writing reservations.

Requirements
  • Current student or recent graduate pursuing a career in sales or customer facing roles.
  • 0-2 years of customer service or sales related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
