Role Purpose:

The Category Development Manager closely monitors key industry trends, category performance, and competitive activity nationally. This role will partner with innovation, marketing, trade strategy, RGM, customer category insights, & sales functions to develop, lead, and communicate fact-based analysis and insights to drive fiscal objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports Hain Celestial's breadth of brands by acting as the category subject matter expert for Field Sales and internal cross-functional partners; role possesses deep knowledge of brands and brands' strategies across categories in which we compete.
  • Proficiency in interpreting shopper and consumer research to identify category opportunities, leading to development of solutions which unlock or accelerate growth.
  • Development and management of the national assortment & shelving strategies while consistently monitoring performance to ensure objectives are met.
  • Develop short and long-term category objectives aimed at delivering incremental buyers, trips and units.
  • Establish credibility within industry as thought leader in category management by gaining strategic category partnerships through demonstration of category and consumer expertise.
  • Establish strong, multi-level working relationships with our customers based on mutual trust and integrity.
  • Leveraging insights and resources through the utilization of a broad range of data sources (Circana, Nielsen, Scintilla, SPINS, 84.51, etc...) to develop strategies & merchandising recommendations to our retail partners.
  • Synthesize information and insights into selling stories, category and business reviews.
  • Deliver "gold standard" category presentations to Customer Category team to utilize with retailers and distributors to further build partnerships and grow our core categories.
  • Assist Customer Category team in their strategic customer category review processes via utilization of category analysis, shopper insights and available analytic tools.
  • Contributes to commercialization of in-market insights during monthly business performance review cycle.
  • Provides general analytical support and guidance for the sales, commercials, & brand team.
