JOB SUMMARY:

The Custodial Manager reports directly to the Facilities Operations Manager and serves as the daytime leader for campus custodial operations while acting as the primary coordinator for campus event logistics. This position ensures that Oregon Episcopal School's facilities consistently provide a clean, safe, welcoming, and event-ready environment that reflects the school's commitment to excellence.

The position oversees daily custodial operations, coordinates event setups and breakdowns, manages staff assignments, and serves as the primary liaison between Facilities and event stakeholders. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong customer service, the ability to anticipate operational needs, and a commitment to creating outstanding experiences for students, faculty, families, and guests.

The Custodial Manager leads by example, develops and supports custodial staff, and fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement while advancing the mission and values of Oregon Episcopal School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Event Coordination & Campus Support

  • Serve as the Facilities Department's primary daytime coordinator for campus events, ensuring all spaces are prepared according to event specifications.
  • Coordinate event logistics with faculty, staff, outside vendors, and event organizers to ensure successful execution of campus events.
  • Review event schedules and proactively plan staffing, equipment, furniture, and room configurations.
  • Coordinate and oversee event setup, breakdown, and restoration of campus spaces.
  • Conduct pre-event and post-event inspections to ensure facilities meet OES standards.
  • Prioritize work assignments based on campus activities, academic schedules, and special events.
  • Respond quickly to changing event requirements and provide operational support during high-profile campus activities.
  • Ensure event spaces present a welcoming, professional appearance for students, families, alumni, donors, and visitors.

Custodial Leadership

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the custodial team in partnership with the Facilities Operations Manager and Night Lead Custodian.
  • Plan, assign, monitor, and adjust daily workloads to maintain consistent cleaning standards across campus.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and consistency in every building.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance evaluations, and staff development.
  • Maintain a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform custodial duties as necessary to support departmental operations.

Operational Management

  • Maintain inventory of custodial supplies, chemicals, equipment, and consumable products.
  • Monitor equipment condition and coordinate repairs or replacement as needed.
  • Utilize Incident IQ to manage work orders, document completed work, and communicate operational needs.
  • Maintain Integrated Pest Management records, Safety Data Sheets, and required regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure accurate employee attendance and payroll records.

Safety & Customer Service

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, Oregon OSHA, fire safety, hazardous materials, infection prevention, and emergency preparedness requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety through regular inspections and staff coaching.
  • Perform traffic management and campus support duties during arrival, dismissal, and special events.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding professionally and promptly to requests from faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
  • Represent the Facilities Department as a collaborative partner supporting the educational mission of Oregon Episcopal School.
  • Other duties as assigned.
