Job description
The Coordinator Curriculum Math (6-12) will be responsible for the overall development and management of district's taught and assessed curriculum, instructional priorities, teacher and administrator professional learning, and identification of recommended resources for the assigned program area. The incumbent will provide strong leadership in the area of Mathematics curriculum and assessment design and implementation in accordance with the Curriculum Management Plan to promote the District's vision for Teaching and Learning.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development
- Lead the planning, development, evaluation, revision and maintenance of an aligned district curriculum, including local assessments aligned to state and national standards, and tiered instruction
- Develop, monitor, maintain, and evaluate curriculum program guides, instructional resources, and Math programming
- Collaborate with curriculum team members to create and revise curriculum, assessment, intervention, and enrichment documents
- Articulate, support, and oversee implementation of district instructional priorities aligned to the District's philosophy for Curriculum and Instruction
- Promote the District assessment philosophy through the inclusion of formative, interim, and summative assessments to assist teachers with monitoring student progress
- Collaborate with district leaders across instructional departments to the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners
- Evaluate the implementation of the curriculum using multiple data points including instructional walk-throughs, student achievement data, assessments, and stakeholder feedback
- Collaborate with district and campus administrators to ensure implementation of the District's curriculum, instruction, and assessment philosophy
- Design, coordinate and conduct professional learning and presentations for teachers, district personnel, parents, and other stakeholders aligned to best practices for instruction and adult learning
- Design and deliver professional learning to build capacity in teacher leaders to support curriculum implementation, assessment practices, and PLC best practices
- Advise and support district-wide curriculum events and contests related to the District's instructional programs
- Facilitate the use of data to determine student progress, make instructional and programmatic decisions, and to evaluate curricular needs
- Attend regional, state, and national conferences and serve on committees to advance best practices in curriculum design and implementation
- Serve as member of a Learning Walk Team to engage in instructional walk-throughs and facilitate campus support structures in collaboration with the campus principal and district leaders
- Monitor and maintain student achievement data, including data from RtI screeners, and provide regular updates to applicable stakeholders to promote the success of all students
- Collaborate to develop and administer a budget based on alignment to district priorities and ensure that operations are cost effective and managed wisely
- Develop and/or update required district documents including the Curriculum Management Plan, District Improvement Plan, District Strategic Plan, and any handbooks related to instructional policies
- Coordinate and support the selection and purchase of instructional materials, professional development, products, and services
- Manage the maintenance and use of the curriculum within the learning management system
- Coordinate instructional program components, support needs, and materials for the purpose of meeting student needs while complying with district and/or program guideline
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and policies
- Supervise the development and implementation of the District's Curriculum; including the written, taught, and assessed curriculum
- Provide leadership and direction to campus based instructional personnel to support the implementation and use of the District's curriculum and instructional programs
- Assist in the process of recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of assigned staff
- Initiate personnel actions including documentation and termination under the guidance of Human Resources
- Conduct performance appraisals of assigned staff
- Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
Qualification Requirements

- Master's degree
- Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment Valid Texas Teacher Certification that qualifies candidate to teach secondary math
- Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a classroom teacher in secondary math
- Minimum of 3 years instructional leadership at the campus or district level
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to the implementation of district initiatives
- Demonstrated knowledge in special education law, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge in curriculum, assessment, and instruction
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing

Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
Additional Information
- This position requires travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends.
