Job description

Summer Camp Counselors Needed!


Do you want to have fun in the sun? Do you enjoy helping children learn, engage and create friendships? Do you want to help foster a great summer camp environment for the children in your area? 
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Summer Camp Counselor in our childcare center. As a Summer Camp Counselor you will work alongside the Assistant Director to manage daily summer operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and create a nurturing and stimulating environment for all children.


Summer Camp Counselors will work with children aged 5 years-12 years old. Calendars and Daily schedules are already created. Counselors will receive class schedules, daily curriculum, activities, and addresses for all field trips so they can plan ahead. We will provide all classroom materials to teachers to ensure we fulfill Summer Camp agreements. Summer Camp Counselors will be responsible for all children outside the facility and will transfer them to and from field trips daily. Consistently conduct safety checks throughout the day to maintain licensing requirements and keep children safe. 
Please note that our expectations for this position are exceptionally high. This will be a demanding yet fulfilling role, and we are seeking individuals who are passionate about ensuring the best outcomes for children. You'll have success here if you value transparent processes and feel qualified to do the following tasks:

  • Assist the Assistant Director in supervising and fulfilling summer camp responsibilities.
  • Transport children to and from school for field trips. 
  • Ensure bus safety and meet driving requirements. 
  • Operate the classroom while maintaining compliance with state licensing requirements.
  • Collaborating with teachers to design and execute curriculum and activities that foster the growth, learning, and development of the students.
  • Develop easy routines with children throughout the summer to maintain a schedule. 
  • Safeguarding the well-being of the children in our custody.
  • Build relationships with families, staff, and the community to promote the center's mission and values.



Requirements:

  • Obtain Food Handler and CPR First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to lift, run and act fast when on field trips.
  • Knowledge of state licensing regulations and compliance standards
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stick to the camp schedule. 
  • Execute activities and adapt accordingly. 
  • Work in summer heat (excluding weather advisories)
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
