The Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) in the College of Education and Human Development invites applications for an Open Rank Faculty position.
Examples of Duties
Teaching and Student Success
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Health, Physical Education and
Kinesiology.
• Develop, revise, and assess course content to ensure alignment with current disciplinary
standards and best practices.
• Utilize innovative teaching methods, instructional technologies, and evidence-based
pedagogical approaches.
• Maintain regular office hours and provide academic advising and mentoring to students.
• Supervise internships, practicum experiences, independent studies, theses, and
dissertations as appropriate.
• Evaluate student learning and provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments.
• Support student recruitment, retention, and graduation initiatives.
Research and Scholarly Activity
• Establish and maintain an active program of scholarly research.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly outlets.
• Present scholarly work at regional, national, and international conferences.
• Pursue external funding opportunities through grants, contracts, and other sponsored
programs.

Typical Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent terminal degree) in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, Physical Education, Human Performance, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to teach on-campus undergraduate and/or graduate courses in kinesiology or related disciplines.
• Evidence of scholarly activity, research, or professional engagement appropriate to rank.
• Ability to advise and mentor students from diverse backgrounds. • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and student success.
• Ability to contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities.
• Experience using instructional technology and learning management systems.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience in higher education.
• Record of peer-reviewed publications and scholarly presentations.
