Curriculum Coordinator
Job Description
Reports To: Superintendent (in collaboration with Site Principals)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Contract Term: 12-Month Contract
Classification: Central Office / Academic Support
The Curriculum Coordinator serves as a central academic systems leader responsible for leading the development and coordination of curriculum, instructional resources, and professional learning aligned with Beacon Academy of Nevada’s blended alternative education model. This role requires a high level of integrity, responsibility, and motivation following the organization’s mission to serve at risk students. This role supports the implementation and continuous improvement of instructional systems across campuses in collaboration with the Superintendent and Site Principals.
The Curriculum Coordinator provides expertise in curriculum design, instructional best practices, instructional technology tools, and online learning systems, including Canvas (LMS) and Infinite Campus (SIS). The role supports the monitoring and analysis of student performance data, the development of instructional resources, and delivery of professional development to staff.
The Curriculum Coordinator directly supervises central curriculum support staff, including Instructional Designers and Instructional & Curriculum Facilitators, and is responsible for the quality, alignment, implementation and delivery of curriculum, instructional materials, and professional learning systems.
The Curriculum Coordinator supervises central academic staff but does not hold direct supervisory authority over site-based instructional staff and does not hold primary accountability for campus-level performance outcomes.
This is a salaried, full-time, 12-month position that may require work beyond a traditional 40-hour work week.
12-month contract in accordance with the Contract of Employment.
Salary: Compensation is aligned with the BANV Governing Board-approved salary structure and is based on experience, education, and specialized skills.
- Lead the development, alignment, and continuous improvement of curriculum in accordance with Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS), Common Core, and Next Generation Science Standards.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of Instructional Designers and Curriculum & Instructional Facilitators in the development and refinement of blended and online courses.
- Ensure curriculum and course design align with best practices in online learning, including Quality Matters standards.
- Review and oversee course design at all phases including; course outline, timeline, instructional outline, and final product to promote student engagement and mastery across multiple content areas.
- Research and recommend instructional strategies, curriculum resources, and innovations aligned with alternative education and blended learning models.
- Serve as liaison between the Nevada Department of Education’s Distance Education Department and the school regarding online course content approval cycles.
- Support the effective use of Canvas (LMS), Infinite Campus (SIS), and instructional technologies to enhance instructional delivery and student monitoring.
- Analyze student performance data, including course completion, credit attainment, and assessment results, to identify trends and inform instructional improvements.
- Provide data insights and recommendations to Principals and leadership teams to support decision-making.
- Develop and refine systems and processes that improve instructional planning, pacing, and progress monitoring.
- Design and deliver professional development aligned to instructional priorities, blended learning strategies, and student needs.
- Oversee the development of training materials, instructional resources, and guidance for staff and students.
- Provide non-evaluative coaching support to teachers and teacher assistants through observations, modeling, training, and instructional resources.
- Work directly with teachers in the classroom to support the effective implementation of curriculum and instructional materials, ensuring fidelity of use, appropriate scaffolding, and alignment to the needs of diverse learners.
- Support implementation of instructional strategies that address the needs of diverse learners, including special populations (EL, SPED, McKinney-Vento).
- Support coordination and implementation of state and local assessments, including MAP Growth, WIDA, ACT, and other required assessments.
- Assist with analysis of assessment data to inform instructional improvements and program effectiveness.
- Support alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend instructional technology tools, digital content, and software aligned to school needs.
- Support implementation and integration of instructional technologies across campuses.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure systems are effectively utilized and aligned with instructional goals.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate Instructional Designers and Instructional & Curriculum Facilitators.
- Assign and manage projects related to curriculum development, course design, and professional learning.
- Establish clear expectations, timelines, and accountability for deliverables.
- Monitor quality, consistency, and alignment of all curriculum and instructional materials.
- Provide coaching and feedback to improve team performance and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent, Principals, Assistant Principals, and other staff to support school improvement efforts.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives related to curriculum, instruction, and academic programming.
- Support development of systems and tools that enhance instructional quality and consistency across campuses.
- Participate in leadership meetings, data reviews, and professional learning as appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices in curriculum development, online learning, and instructional technology.
- Demonstrate professionalism, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- Strong knowledge of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and online/blended learning models.
- Ability to analyze and interpret student performance data to inform instructional recommendations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise and develop adult learners and professional staff.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively on projects and tasks with school leaders, instructional staff, and other stakeholders.
- Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or related field
- Experience supervising or leading instructional or academic teams
- Experience with online/blended learning environments
- Experience developing and delivering professional development
- Experience working with at-risk students or in an alternative education setting
- Proficiency with LMS (Canvas), SIS (Infinite Campus), and instructional technology tools
- Ability to work beyond the standard school day
- Experience with Quality Matters or other online course quality frameworks
- Experience supporting multi-campus or network school environments
- Possess or ability to acquire a Nevada School Administrator Endorsement/License
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
