SCHOOL PERFORMANCE SUPPORTS (SPS) SPECIALIST
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The School Performance Supports (SPS) Specialist collaborates with specific Title I school sites that are identified to receive School Performance Supports. The SPS Specialist will provide systematic supports to Title I elementary and secondary school sites that are identified as Comprehensive Intervention and Supports (CSI), Targeted Intervention and Supports (TSI), Additional Targeted Intervention and Supports (ATSI), 1 star, and/or 2 star. The SPS Specialist collaborates with ESSA-Evidence Based outside vendors to coordinate district support which may include Professional Learning. The SPS Specialist may receive additional guidance from the Academic Chief Officers, and/or Directors of the Curriculum & Instruction, English Language Development, and Accountability Departments and may regularly collaborate with their department staff members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists individual sites in aligning outside vendors, programs, and support.
- Coordinates/assists in scheduling the on-site training and coaching with vendors.
- Collaborates with the Accountability Department to assist schools in retrieving student data and assist in analyzing the data.
- Attends vendor professional development training and coaching in order to help facilitate work when the vendor coach is not on site.
- Assists in overseeing program implementation and be a point person if issues arise with the vendors.
- Assists in building staff understanding of the alignment of Nevada Academic Content Standards to facilitate effective planning and assessment of content.
- Provides modeling, co-teaching, and coaching (Plan, Do, Study, Act) of effective practices to classroom teachers.
- Attends grade-level professional learning communities to assist with alignment of supports being provided.
- Provides follow-up for professional learning through coaching and mentoring.
- Assists in utilizing a continual model of improvement cycle (Plan, Do, Study, Act) for Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), iReady, and WiDA assessments to determine progress made toward School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals and objectives.
- Assist in utilizing planning and assessment tools to evaluate instructional impact on students.
Facilitation, Coaching, and Classroom Environment:
- Creates a professional coaching model with high expectations, respect, rapport, and cultural acceptance.
- Organizes schedules to create a safe, accessible, resource rich environment that fosters positive coaching.
- Supports effective classroom procedures and student behavior through modeling lessons, co-teaching with mainstream classroom teachers, and providing opportunities for reflective discussion and feedback.
- Establishes and promotes a positive culture of learning.
- Demonstrates cultural competency.
Professional Responsibilities and Collaboration:
- Maintains accurate documentation and records related to the position.
- Reflects on coaching responsibilities and support.
- Seeks out and supports family and community partnerships.
- Participates in professional learning communities.
- Participates in various district department meetings, professional learning communities, cadres, and/or professional learning that is relevant to job expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field required.
Experience: Five (5) years successful teaching experience required. Qualification into the Teacher Leadership Pool is required. If there are no qualified candidates in the Teacher Leadership Pool who meet the job specific qualifications, a candidate can be hired with a provision that they qualify into the Teacher Leadership Pool within the first year.
Licenses/Certificates: Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid Nevada teaching license in the relevant subject area/and or grade level required.

This position is for the 2026/27 school year with an anticipated contract start date after July, 1st 2026.
This position is Title-funded and is contingent upon continued funding. The hiring administrator may retain incumbent for the duration of the grant without re-advertising.
