JOB DESCRIPTION CTE Curriculum Specialist

TITLE:  Curriculum Specialist                               FTE:  1.0

FLSA STATUS:   Exempt                                          WORK CALENDAR:  260-262 days                                      

COMPENSATION:    District-Based Professional Support Compensation Guide (Starting $77,117)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Analyze and use student and teacher performance data to monitor and improve student academic achievement
  2. Prepare, plan for and lead regular professional development and professional learning community sessions
  3. Prepare, plan for and lead professional development for Early Release Days and Summer PD Academy
  4. Collaborate with other coordinators in the elementary feeder districts to develop materials to support articulation
  5. Integrate innovative uses of technology for teaching and learning
  6. Develop curriculum maps and align materials to standards, and support teachers in generating lesson ideas
  7. Assist in the evaluation, revision, and editing of all resources
  8. Assist with securing permission for copyrighted materials used in lesson development
  9. Research and disseminate best practices in instructional strategies and discipline-related content
  10. Observe teachers and provide non-evaluative feedback in partnership with site administration
  11. Provide training and support as needed to CTE teachers and to Freshman Experience teachers
  12. Facilitating feedback loops to collect teacher input regarding curriculum and instruction
  13. Demonstrate a desire to improve student performance
  14. Collaborate and assist in planning for professional learning; plan and present professional development in collaboration with site and district administration
  15. Model best practices in instructional delivery and provide best practices
  16. Show consideration and respect for all persons
  17. Share knowledge of instructional theory and district curriculum with teachers
  18. Develop and model norms of collaboration, inquiry and on-going professional learning
  19. Exhibit self-discipline
  20. Support district, school, department and individual teacher goals
  21. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues
  22. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community
  23. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner
  24. Oversee collection, analysis, and submission of CTE related data points
  25. Assumes any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by the Director of Career & Technical Education. The Director of Career & Technical Education may make any adjustment in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the best interest of the school district.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required

Education / Certificate
     1. Master's degree preferred

      2. Current and valid Arizona Department of Education Teaching certification

      3. Current and valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card 

Experience

  1. A minimum of three (3) years successful 7-12 classroom teaching experience; five (5) years recommended
  2. A minimum of three (3) years successful CTE classroom experience is preferred
  3. Recognized as an exemplary classroom teacher by supervisors and fellow teachers
  4. Exhibits exceptional professional role model qualities
  5. Knowledge and experience in the area of developing, planning, and presenting professional development sessions
  6. Ability to engage in and demonstrate formative assessment processes, including non-evaluative, reflective conversations with teachers about formative and summative assessment evidence
  7. Leadership skills and ability to work effectively with groups and individuals; skills in organizing ideas and presenting them with clarity and conciseness; knowledge of a secondary level curriculum and programs with the ability to apply this knowledge to a variety of situations
  8. Experienced in the effective use of instruction of adult learners
  9. Demonstrate leadership skills

Communication Skills

  1. Strong writing, literacy, and communication skills; uses effective communication strategies to interact with a variety of audiences

      2.  Bilingual communication is beneficial

Computer Skills

  1. Must be proficient with technology (i.e. email, Google Suites, instructional platforms, Canva etc.)
