Position Title: Dean of Students - - Results Based Funding (RBF)
Supervisor: Principal
Term of Employment: 186 Day Calendar - sourced through results-based funding. This position is based on available funding.
Salary Classification: Teacher Salary Schedule + Stipend
Job Summary:
The Dean of Students is a pivotal role within our educational institution, blending responsibilities from two distinct positions to create a dynamic leadership opportunity. Reporting to the Principal, the Dean of Students will oversee student conduct, non-academic issues, and provide essential support to promote student achievement and educational opportunities. Additionally, this role will serve as a key instructional leader, contributing to the overall development of both students and staff.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The following responsibilities tie into our strategic plan to include Student Success, Safety and Wellbeing, Stewardship of Community Resources, and Community Connection. We believe these four areas help us remain focused on Peoria Unified's vision: Every Student, Every Day, Prepared to Shape Tomorrow.
Student Success:
  • Support the principal with instructional leadership for academic programs, fostering an environment conducive to student growth and achievement.
  • Assist the principal and assistant principal with conducting classroom observations and evaluations of instructional programs, providing feedback for the growth and development of teachers and staff.
  • Provide assistance in the continuous improvement process to establish school-wide goals and expectations based on the analysis of student data.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, implementation, and assessment.

Student Conduct and Non-Academic Issues:
  • Oversee student attendance, discipline, and welfare, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
  • Manage records related to student attendance, discipline, truancy, and promotion requirements.
  • Provide guidance and counseling to students, as well as assistance with campus control and security.
  • Communicate and enforce student conduct expectations to staff and pupils, ensuring due process is followed in disciplinary matters.

Community Connection:
  • Strengthen parent and community partnerships, fostering an environment of collaboration and support.
  • Be available to students, parents, and teachers for education-related purposes outside regular instructional hours.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and direct all school-sponsored activities, functions, and events, promoting a sense of community and involvement.

Supervision and Leadership:
  • Assist with implementation and communication of school and district programs, policies, and procedures to students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Participate in instructional leadership and guidance of the school's academic programs, contributing to the overall improvement of teaching and learning.

Stewardship of Community Resources:
  • Adhere to effective policies, practices, and accountability of district resources, including sound fiscal management.
  • Ensure the school's compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Education, with Administrative Certification is preferred.
  • Three years of teaching experience or equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at a school or district level.
  • Valid Arizona Teaching certification required.
  • Possession of a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, District and departmental rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to balance various responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced educational environment.
