W2 position with Verizon

Location: hybrid role – 4 days onsite @ Irving, TX – ( No – CPT, OPT, H1 transfer visa please)

Duration: Long-term contract
Title: DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineer

Required:

11+ years of IT experience.
Strong Linux fundamentals — systemd, networking, file permissions, process supervision
Container runtime experience: Docker or Podman (rootless Podman a strong plus)
Python at the "I can read and modify a Flask app" level — you don''t need to architect it, but you need to debug it
Comfort with nginx: reverse proxy configuration, subpath routing, header handling
Experience owning a deploy pipeline in a non-trivial environment (not just git push)
Clear written communication — your runbooks will be read by analysts, not engineers.

Strong plus:

systemd user services (not system-level — rootless, --user mode)
BigQuery or any cloud data warehouse familiarity
GPU infrastructure experience (CUDA, NVIDIA drivers, container device passthrough)
Python web framework internals (Flask, Gunicorn, WSGI)
Prior work on internal developer platforms or self-service tooling
claude/AI ability is a strong plus
depth in claude configuration - md files, MCP tools, etc will be a plus.
any BI experience
