Job description

Title: Mechanical Designer

Work Location: Decatur, AL

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team! In this role, you will be at the forefront of creating detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings for a variety of products and systems. Your expertise will drive the development of efficient, reliable, and innovative mechanical solutions that meet project specifications and client needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects in a fast-paced environment, where your creativity and technical skills will make a tangible impact.

Duties

  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software to illustrate industrial piping systems and assemblies.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with project goals.
  • Conduct design reviews, analyze mechanical performance, and iterate designs based on feedback and testing results.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, assembly instructions, and bill of materials (BOM).
  • Support prototyping efforts by providing design modifications and troubleshooting issues during testing phases.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality protocols.
  • Maintain organized records of design revisions, calculations, and related documentation for easy access and future reference.
  • Use 3D scanning equipment to document field conditions.

Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable means of transportation.
  • Must have proven experience as a mechanical designer.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design or engineering with proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Cadworx, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes with an emphasis in heavy industrial applications.
  • Experience with piping design, equipment layout, and process and instrumentation diagrams. (P&IDs)
  • Petro Chemical experience is desired.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges creatively.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications accurately.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and present ideas clearly.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ASME or ISO is preferred but not required.
  • Associate's degree in Design and Drafting, or a related field is highly desired.
