ADVERTISING TITLE: CORRECTIONAL SERVICES CONSULTANT

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at To Be Determined/ Region 1 in the Academic Services Department.

The purpose of the Correctional Services Consultant is to serve as the primary liaison and subject matter expert for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs within correctional institutions, ensuring effective communication, compliance, quality assurance, staff development, program evaluation, and resource management to optimize educational services for the inmate population.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

The location of this position will be determined by the candidate selected. 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Acts as the main link between institutions, regions, and central office to ensure clear communication and collaboration on Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
  • Provides training, support, and onboarding for CTE teachers and staff, addressing new policies and compliance issues.
  • Visits correctional institutions to identify problems, recommend fixes, and evaluate program quality and compliance with policies and education guidelines.
  • Assesses inmate needs, develops new CTE programs, and analyzes data to improve or eliminate existing programs while managing budgets effectively.
  • Oversees program purchases, tracks spending, maintains inventory records, leads instructor groups to share best practices, and manages program updates and closures.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
