What does a CT PRN do?

A CT PRN is a healthcare professional who works as-needed (PRN stands for 'pro re nata' or 'as the situation demands') in computed tomography (CT) imaging. They operate CT scanners to produce diagnostic images of patients' internal structures, assisting physicians in diagnosing medical conditions. PRN CT technologists typically fill in for staff shortages, cover busy shifts, or provide extra support during peak times. Their duties include preparing patients, ensuring safety protocols, and maintaining imaging equipment.

What are the typical work schedules and flexibility options for a CT PRN technologist?

CT PRN (as-needed) technologists typically work variable shifts based on the facility's staffing needs, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. This flexibility can be advantageous for those seeking work-life balance or supplemental income, but it also means that work hours may not be consistent from week to week. PRN technologists are often called in to cover staff shortages, high patient volumes, or special cases, so adaptability and readiness to work at short notice are important. Working in a PRN capacity can offer exposure to different teams and procedures, providing valuable experience for career growth.
