Employment Status:Full timeShift:Day/Evening/Night (United States of America)Facility:1906 Belleview Ave SE - RoanokeRequisition Number:R160409 Clinical Associate - 9 CST Medical Cardiac PCU - FT (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:Here is an opportunity to thrive and bring your valuable skills to life within a setting known for providing the best quality care to patients. As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team.

9 CST is a 20 bed Medical Cardiology Progressive Care Unit within the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) that serves patients 18 years and older. Our progressive care nurses' practice in a setting where patients require complex ongoing assessment, multiple therapies, and interventions.

This position is full time, working the day/evening/night shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays

Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.

  • May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.

  • Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

  • May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.

  • Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.

  • Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.

  • May assist with chart audits.

  • May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.

  • May participate in the sitter process

  • Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.

  • Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls as needed and takes messages.

  • Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.

  • Operates and maintains general office equipment. Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.

  • Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.

  • Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.

  • Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.


Please note -
employee must attend mandatory orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks of employment. All classes require to be in person except for 2 online classes.

What We Require:

Education: High school graduate or GED.

Experience: none

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: none unless the following:

  • Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Must be organized and self -motivated. Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.
