Position Overview B2E a UES company is seeking an experienced and certified Asbestos Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) or Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) to support upcoming rail projects with Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and BNSF Railway. This role is ideal for a seasoned asbestos professional who enjoys field work, autonomy, and working on high-profile infrastructure projects. This is a Northern California-based position with regional travel across Northern CA. The selected candidate will report to our Omaha office while working remotely and in the field. What We're Looking For
  • Active California certification as either:
    • Asbestos Site Surveillance Technician (CSST), or
    • Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC)
  • Proven, hands-on experience performing asbestos surveys and oversight (no new graduates)
  • Willingness to travel regionally
  • Strong understanding of asbestos regulations and field best practices
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with project teams
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform field work
Responsibilities
  • Complete and manage assigned project tasks in accordance with project schedules, deadlines, and budgets
  • Serve as a primary point of contact by communicating with clients, rail representatives, and site personnel
  • Provide on-site project oversight and coordination for asbestos-related activities on active rail projects
  • Conduct asbestos surveys, inspections, and sampling in compliance with California regulations
  • Perform and oversee environmental testing and monitoring, including air monitoring and asbestos sampling
  • Review, analyze, and interpret asbestos data and laboratory results
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and regulatory deliverables
  • Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal asbestos regulations and client-specific requirements
  • Maintain accurate and detailed project records and field documentation
  • Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while ensuring site safety protocols are followed
  • Operate and oversee the use of specialized asbestos monitoring and detection equipment
  • Communicate project status, findings, and safety considerations to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance and support related to asbestos safety and compliance as needed
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written (Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio (CAD equivalent)) and verbal communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write technical documents and field reports.
  • Excellent observational, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Completion of an accredited asbestos training program
  • Valid asbestos handling certification
  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and protocols
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel for field assignments and work in remote outdoor environments. CERTIFICATIONS
  • Active California certification as either a CSST (Asbestos Site Surveillance Technician) or CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant)
Preferred Qualifications
  • DSHS Licensed Asbestos Air-Monitoring Technician with NIOSH 582 Equivalency License (strongly preferred) or state specific agency
  • DSHS Licensed Asbestos Project Manager, Management Planner, and/or Project Designer (preferred) or state specific agency
  • DLR - Mold Assessment Technician or Consultant License (preferred) or state specific agency
  • ELRR Lead-Based Paint Inspector (preferred) or state specific agency
  • NRPP Radon Measurement Professional Certification (preferred) or state specific agency
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER (preferred)
Travel Requirements This position requires moderate travel, approximately up to 70% of the time with overnight stays, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work. #LI-CB1 Physical Demands & Work Environment This position primarily works in an outdoor work environment, regularly exposed to varying field conditions, including:
  • Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps, grasslands, fields, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such as sand, brush, and debris.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments.
  • Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions. The physical requirements for this position may include and are not limited to:
  • Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.
  • Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.
  • Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.
  • Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
