Job description

CSS Farms, a multi-state agricultural business, strives to provide innovative solutions and superior quality and service to our customers. We proudly and relentlessly continue to meet the highest standards of stewardship when it comes to the three things we value most: our land, our employees, and our communities.

We are a team-oriented company with a high trust, entrepreneurial culture. We value our employees’ opinions, we have a strong work ethic, and are focused on growing great vegetables and developing our operations profitably. People who are most successful at CSS Farms are energetic, self-directed, and pragmatic.

Summary

The Shop Supervisor is a working leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the farm shop. This position ensures that all equipment is maintained to CSS Farms' standards, repair schedules are met, and the shop team operates safely and efficiently. You will bridge the gap between high-level equipment strategy and hands-on maintenance execution.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and train Shop Workers. Coordinate daily work assignments to ensure maximum uptime for tractors, trucks, and specialized potato/irrigation equipment.
  • Prioritize repair orders and preventative maintenance schedules, especially during high-pressure planting and harvest seasons.
  • Inspect completed repairs and maintenance logs to ensure work meets manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
  • Manage the procurement of parts, tools, and shop supplies. Maintain relationships with external vendors and manage the shop budget.
  • Act as the lead expert for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, including GPS and precision ag technology integrations.
  • Enforce the use of PPE and safety around equipment. Conduct regular safety meetings and shop inspections to maintain a culture of safety.
  • Oversee the Shop Workers' record-keeping to ensure all equipment service histories are accurate, complete, and digitized.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform all physical tasks of a Shop Worker (lifting 65 lbs, bending, crouching) as this is an active leadership role.
  • Extended periods of standing and walking across various farm sites.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Typical hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Increased availability during peak seasonal windows (planting/harvest) to manage shift handovers and emergency repairs.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in farm equipment maintenance, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel mechanics, hydraulics, and crop ergonomics/irrigation systems.
  • Proven ability to manage a team, resolve conflicts, and communicate clear instructions.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English is highly preferred to effectively manage a diverse workforce.
  • Advanced proficiency with fleet management software and precision ag platforms.

Work Authorization

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

Benefits

  • Market competitive salary.
  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan options and Life Insurance.
  • Paid time off and tuition reimbursement options.
