Job description

Enlisted Airborne Cryptologic Language Analyst

When we receive or intercept data in the air, it's critical for us to understand it in order to act accordingly. Responsible for translating intelligence communications, Airborne Cryptologic Language Analysts utilize fluent foreign language skills to analyze messages obtained during flight. Providing threat warnings and actionable intelligence that can assist in mission planning, these highly skilled specialists are critical to keeping our missions successful and our Airmen safe.

What you'll do

  • Intercept and analyze signal intelligence of possible enemy threats
  • Maintain proficiency in emergency equipment use and procedures
  • Provide actionable intelligence to command
  • Coordinate with aerospace rescue and recovery services and operations
  • Improve analytical methods to maximize operational effectiveness

Training & Education

  • Basic Military Training: 7.5 weeks
  • Technical Training: 224 - 459 Days
  • Military Training Location: Lackland AFB, TX; Defense Language Institute, Monterey, CA; Goodfellow AFB, TX
  • Status upon completion: Enlisted Airman with credits earned towards Intelligence Studies and Technology

Key things to consider requirements

  • You must be 17–42 years of age, a U.S. citizen and obtain a qualifying ASVAB score. High School Students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year. Applicants who are non-graduates or non-alternate credential holders must obtain an AFQT Test score of 65 or higher on the ASVAB.
  • 72 General (G)
    • A minimum score of 62 on the Predictive Success Model.
    • No record history of temporomandibular joint pain or disorder
    • Height no less than 59 inches and no more than 80 inches
    • Successful completion of a polygraph test
    • Completion of a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)
    • Demonstrated proficiency in a designated language, or successful graduation of the Defense Language Institute in a designated language
    • Completion of Aircrew Fundamentals Course, Airborne Cryptologic Linguist Course, and designated Survival Schools
    • Completion of Initial Qualification Training with a valid aviation qualification
    • Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
    • Must be at least 17, but has not reached age 42 on the date of enlistment
