POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced leader for the Head of Origination role, who will be responsible for executing Chariot Energy's Retail and Wholesale Origination strategies as it pertains to the Company's Gentailer business.  The Retail Origination activities include all structured load serving deals primarily focused on Large Commercial and Industrial customers including the opportunities coming from other Hanwha affiliates and their investments.  Wholesale origination will be primarily focused on executing Tolling Arrangements and Structured Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that are pivotal for the success of Chariot Energy's Gentailer business.

This role will report to the Chief Risk Officer and will work closely with Trading, Risk Management, Energy Analytics, Strategy and Retail Sales teams in structuring and executing the commercial aspects of energy projects and helping fulfill the company's growth strategy within North America.

This position is in Houston, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to the Houston office location. The position will be located out of the Chariot Energy/HEUH Houston office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role is responsible for working closely with CRO, COO and CSO to formulate the overall Wholesale and Retail Origination strategy and develop the deal pipeline
  • Working closely with Structuring, Trading and Risk Management teams, responsible for executing the full transaction cycle including deal structuring, customer pitch, negotiating transaction terms and deal closure
  • Lead all origination efforts embedded as part of mergers and acquisitions and serving large C&I loads including Datacenters, Crypto Miners and Oil & Gas
  • Build a strong network of wholesale counterparties, large retail customers and strategic brokers and foster a symbiotically beneficial partnership through regular value-added touch points
  • Single point of responsibility for delivering all the KPIs associated with the Origination team
  • Manage and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains a consistent presence and key relationships with decision makers and stakeholders in PUCs, RTO/ISOs and other forums.
  • Support the due diligence processes for late-stage projects and operating assets and collaborate on M&A activity related to potential transactions that expand or enhance the portfolio.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field of study.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in energy industry with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in power origination and trading.
  • A solid track record of success in generation P&L from execution of wholesale tolling arrangements and PPAs
  • Experience with structuring, negotiating, and executing retail power service agreements for large commercial and industrial customers.
  • Established a network of industry contacts with corporate entities and trade associations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the dynamics of wholesale electricity markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, structure, negotiate, coordinate, and execute power sale agreements together with internal and external advisors.
  • Working knowledge of Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) operations, electric transmission and power generation and storage technologies.
  • Strong business development, networking, leadership, negotiation, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident in engaging with senior business leaders and management colleagues.
  • Ability to prepare marketing materials, presentations and proposal materials needed to pitch origination opportunities to customers.
  • Knowledge of US natural gas, electric, and emissions markets, including supply and demand, market structure, and regulatory fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex and sensitive regulatory issues/problems.
  • Thorough understanding of the structure and relationship of government bodies.
  • Strong knowledge of power fundamentals and market rules/structure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail.
  • Results oriented leader with the ability to work independently while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups.
  • Deadline-oriented with an ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic environment.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite Apps: Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Eligible to work in the USA for any employer without sponsorship.

COMPENSATION: $230,000 - $300,000 salary
