Job Summary

Experienced PreCommissioning Lead with strong expertise in pipe cleaning, system flushing, blowing, drying, and turnover, transitioning into a Commissioning Lead role. Proven ability to take systems from mechanical completion through precommissioning readiness and into safe, efficient commissioning and startup. Skilled in systemization, punch closeout, and ensuring cleanliness standards critical for LNG and cryogenic operations.

Demonstrated leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing field execution under tight schedules, and interfacing with construction, QA/QC, and operations. Brings a strong foundation in system readiness, safety compliance, and troubleshooting to support seamless startup, performance testing, and handover to operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Pre-Commissioning Leadership & Execution
  • Leverage strong background in pipe cleaning (air blowing, nitrogen blowing, water flushing, oil flushing) to ensure system cleanliness and readiness.
  • Verify completion of:
    • System walkdowns (A/B/C punch lists)
    • Flushing and drying acceptance criteria
    • System preservation and reinstatement
  • Ensure systems meet cleanliness and dryness standards for cryogenic LNG service.
  1. Commissioning Leadership & Execution
  • Lead commissioning activities across LNG systems including process, utilities, and cryogenic systems.
  • Develop and execute commissioning strategies, procedures, and schedules aligned with project milestones.
  • Manage system handover from pre-commissioning (MC/Ready for Commissioning) to startup and operations.
  1. Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture during commissioning and startup.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Project HSE procedures
    • Permit to Work (PTW) systems
    • SIMOPS coordination
  • Lead safety reviews such as:
    • Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
    • Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
  1. Systemization & Turnover
  • Manage system/subsystem breakdowns, completions tracking, and turnover packages.
  • Ensure completion dossiers include:
    • Test records
    • Cleaning/blowing reports
    • Instrument calibration and loop checks
  • Interface with construction, QA/QC, and document control teams.
  1. Team Leadership
  • Supervise commissioning engineers, specialists, and vendor reps.
  • Provide technical mentorship, especially in:
    • System preparation
    • Cleaning validation
    • Troubleshooting during initial startup
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across:
    • Mechanical
    • Process
    • Electrical & Instrumentation
  1. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Interface with vendors (compressors, pumps, turbines, LNG storage systems).
  • Coordinate with client/owner commissioning and operations teams for handover.
  • Support operator training and readiness.
  1. Startup & Performance Testing
  • Lead first introduction of:
    • Hydrocarbons
    • LNG cooling and loading operations
  • Oversee start-up sequences, ramp-up, and performance testing.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and optimize performance.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years in oil & gas / LNG projects
  • Strong background as:
    • Pre-Commissioning Lead / Supervisor (pipe cleaning, system readiness)
  • Proven experience in:
    • LNG or cryogenic commissioning/startup
    • Large EPC projects

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Flushing, blowing, drying, and cleanliness standards
    • LNG process systems (liquefaction, storage, regasification)
  • Familiarity with:
    • Commissioning management systems (CMS)
    • P&IDs, isometrics, system boundaries

Leadership Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Lead teams in high-pressure startup environments
    • Interface across disciplines and stakeholders
    • Make decisions impacting safety and schedule
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with major LNG contractors
  • Familiarity with digital completions tools
  • Startup experience on greenfield LNG facilities
