Position Description - UST Installer
Business Group/Dept: Operations
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Field Services
Date: June 25, 2026
Purpose of the Position
This position is responsible for the installation, repair, and removal of Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The UST Installer will ensure the safe and efficient installation of petroleum storage systems, conduct system testing, and maintain detailed documentation for regulatory submittals. The role requires hands-on technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a field environment under the direction of a supervisor. This is a non-exempt, hourly position subject to overtime provisions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Colorado wage and hour laws.
Essential Position Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, repair, upgrade, and removal of petroleum storage systems in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct system testing, integrity assessments, and troubleshooting for UST and AST systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with environmental regulations, including CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment) UST regulations and NFPA 30 standards.
  • Maintain accurate site logs and documentation for regulatory submittals and inspections.
  • Supervise or coordinate subcontractors and laborers during field operations.
  • Respond to emergency spill situations and oversee initial mitigation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with project managers and environmental consultants on project scopes and job sequencing.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and environmental compliance.
  • Operate equipment such as excavators and mini track hoes as needed.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Support miscellaneous projects, including compliance testing and environmental site assessments..

Physical activities: Performs physical work outdoors in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and operating heavy equipment. Communicates with clients, employees, and regulatory personnel in person, over the phone, or via email.

Licenses/Certifications Required: Active Colorado UST Installer Certification (issued by Colorado Division of Oil and Public Safety (OPS)); valid driver's license with clean driving record; OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
Preferred Licenses/Certifications: CPR/First Aid Certification; equipment operation certifications (e.g., excavator, mini track hoe); additional state-specific UST/AST certifications
