Job description

Job Summary: 

The Sanitation Associate is responsible for all activities involved in maintaining the cleanliness and food safe environment of the Processing facility, surrounding area and equipment. The primary purpose of this job is to perform daily sanitation of all processing lines. Receives direction concerning sanitation activities all in conjunction with the company's Vision, Mission and Values.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Promotes a safe work environment through knowledge of the sanitation program and commitment to a safe workplace for all.
  • Ensures safety is a priority in day to day functions.
  • Ensures food safety and food defense in the plant.
  • Implements all GMP and HACCP procedures that relate to cleanliness, food safety and pest control with the facility.
  • Maintains a supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for the operation of the cleaning program and in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in best practices and safety, understanding SDS information, and the proper use of personal protective equipment. Safety Glasses or Goggles, Chemical Safety gloves, aprons, suits. Rubber boots. Safety helmet, hairnet and uniform is required to be worn daily.
  • (LOTO) refers to Lock out or Tag out of energy of the equipment before cleaning.
  • Able to perform duties at various heights.
  • Follows and complies with all Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors, co-workers and other departments.
  • Proficient at routine preventative maintenance as well as changeovers.
  • Follows all safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Attends all company training sessions and team meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • Have received a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be flexible with schedule, including start times and weekend work (Holidays)
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and work independently
  • Manual and finger dexterity.
  • Work in a noisy environment for length of shift. Always wear EAR PROTECTION)
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Reach above shoulder height.
  • Sitting, bending, twisting, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, pushing/pulling, and walking for length of shift.

Work Environment: 

  • Work in a noisy environment 
  • Work indoors as well as outdoors 
  • Work in wet and/or humid conditions 
  • Work in cold or hot environments 
  • Work around machinery
