Job description

Security Officer

The Security Officer is the hotel's ambassador focusing on the safety and security of all guests, patrons, and associates as well as hotel assets. Security Officer will enforce all security procedures and hotel policies and comply with all Federal and local laws.

What You Will Do:

  • Uphold and model the company's principles of People, Place and Character, driving collaboration, intuition and translocal hospitality to guest and co-workers.
  • Patrol all areas of the hotel noting unusual circumstances or safety violations
  • Document, report, and follow-up on safety hazards
  • Employ de-escalation strategies in handling guest problems
  • Escort non-compliant guests from property
  • When all other de-escalation and eviction methods have failed, contact the police. Security guards are not to apprehend or be involved in physical altercations with individuals.
  • Report all hotel and company policy violations to immediate supervisor or Department head and complete proper documentation accurately
  • Use proper radio etiquette in accordance with the FCC
  • Monitor CCTV'S and alarms, responding accordingly
  • Escort and witness cash drops as requested
  • Enforce the associate package pass policy
  • Have a working knowledge of the hotel's guest room lock system and in-room safes.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of all incidents, preparing detailed incident reports when appropriate
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all federal, state and local laws, ordinance or codes relevant to security functions
  • Assist during emergencies or disasters according to hotel emergency procedure plan
  • Maintain a high level of visibility and professionalism while on duty
  • Respond accordingly to all fire alarms, bomb threats, and elevator entrapments
  • Maintain current certification in first aid/CPR, and be able to perform competently when necessary
  • Employ an intuitive hospitality mindset when engaged in guest interactions to create experiences for guest that are genuine, thoughtful and memorable
  • Work with integrity, confidentiality and discretion
  • Work cooperatively with others to achieve a common goal
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Comply with all reasonable requests by the hotel management team

What You Will Need:

  • Passion for the People, Place and Culture of our community, love of restaurants and guest service also required
  • Minimum of one (1) year security experience in a luxury hotel preferred
  • Experienced and competent in CPR/First Aid, as well as basic understanding of fire suppression.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays working indoor and outdoor during the shift
  • Fluency in English, verbal and written
  • Ability to continuously stand and/or walk for the majority of a shift.
  • Ability to roll and/or carry tables and chairs when needed
  • Ability to lift, push pull or carry up to 100lbs or more
  • Ability to bend and kneel when needed
  • Ability to work alone without direct supervision
  • Ability to work in a dog friendly work environment
