We are seeking an experienced Combined Cycle Power Plant Control Room Operator who is eager to work as part of a Team at our Arlington Valley Facility!

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as the Control Room Operator, you will work as the lead of a three-person team on a 12-hour rotating shift, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a 580MW Combined Cycle Power Plant from the Control Room utilizing various control systems, as well as directing the operation of all plant equipment.

The Operator must be able to work with others and assist in Overtime for other shifts as required.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Ensure the safe and reliable operation of all plant equipment across varying conditions, including Gas and Steam Turbines, Generators, HRSGs, emissions monitoring, electrical systems, and all auxiliary balance-of-plant equipment, using Turbine Control and Distributed Control Systems.

  • Responsible for operating and monitoring plant equipment remotely, using control systems, and instrumentation, while tracking key parameters (temperature, pressure, levels, vibration, water chemistry) and reviewing operator rounds to verify performance and identify trends.

  • Issuing permits, including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Hot Work as required to authorize work.

  • Utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System to enter service requests, as well as documenting the performance of assigned Preventative Maintenance.

  • Communicating plant conditions, particularly when unusual or abnormal, to the Operations Manager and Lead Control Room Operator.

  • Assisting with development of operations procedures and programs.

  • Performing general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the appearance of the facility as required.

  • Assisting with junior operator training.

  • Strictly adhering to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees, contractors, community, and the environment.

  • Operating heavy equipment such as a man-lift and forklift as required.

  • Assisting with performing Root Cause Analysis of failures as required.

What you will bring to the role:

Education:

  • Completed High School Diploma required.

  • Technical training related to the role is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience as a Control Room Operator for Combined Cycle Plants is highly desirable. Preferably with GE 7FA combustion turbines and GE D11 steam turbines.

  • Experience with GE Mark VIe turbine control system and DeltaV balance of plant control system also preferred

  • Extensive working knowledge of the power plant industry is desirable.

  • Experience as an Operator in a power plant is desired.

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable.

  • Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process control is desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Solid ability to solve equipment, systems, and safety issues.

  • Gas Power Plant Operation and Maintenance experience.

  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot at an expert level concerning operating issues at Gas Power Plant.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and help foster a positive team environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety-sensitive location.

  • Physical mobility, including lifting and climbing, and ability to use PPE required.

  • Rotating Shift Work required.

  • Primarily working independently in Control Room but outside work as necessary during maintenance activities

Additional Details:

  • The pay range for this position is $44 to $66 per hour.

  • The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior relevant experience.

  • This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
