Description

Regional One Health is home to the nation's most gifted and sought-after Healthcare professionals. UT Regional One Physicians is currently seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is a member of the Anesthesia care team and, under the supervision of an anesthesiologist or other qualified physician, participating in rendering anesthetic services. The CRNA is responsible for all activities involving direct patient care such as surgical anesthesia and pain management and those which involve indirect patient care such as care of and ordering anesthesia equipment, supplies, and other duties deemed necessary.

What you will do

  • Performs and documents pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies, selecting, obtaining, ordering and administering pre-anesthetic medications and fluids; and obtaining consent for anesthesia.
  • Develops and implements an anesthetic plan including general, regional, local and sedation.
  • Selects, applies and inserts appropriate monitoring modalities for continuous patient evaluation.
  • Selects and administers anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs and fluids deemed necessary to manage the anesthetic.
  • Manages patient's airway and pulmonary status using current practice modalities and guidelines.
  • Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia by appropriate selection and administration of medications, fluids and ventilation support.
  • Discharges patients from post-anesthesia care area and provide post-anesthesia follow-up and care.
  • Implements pain management modalities.
  • Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Participates in quality and performance improvement, educational and research efforts.
  • Participates in departmental, institutional, and organizational committees as assigned.
  • Consults and works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers in compliance with iRESPECT standards to coordinate and implement activities, promote patient/customer satisfaction and to develop an effective treatment plan. Provides direction to other personnel and reviews medical records to verify that patient's care plan and medical needs are being met.
  • Documents and updates medical and patient charts. Prepares and maintain required records, reports, statistics and files. Ensures patient care activities are updated and documented according to hospital policies and procedures. Ensures charges are documented on unit capture sheet and forwarded to proper location/staff for entry into billing system. Collects and enters patient information into database system. Ensures all charts are signed by physician before releasing to medical record department.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program; Required
  • Completion of accredited Nurse Anesthesia program Required
  • Completion of preparation at the master's or doctoral level in a nursing specialty Required
  • Master's Degree or higher is not required if: National certification in anesthesia and licensure in Tennessee as a registered nurse was obtained prior to July 1, 2005; or National certification in anesthesia and licensure as a registered nurse with the multi-state licensure privilege to practice in Tennessee was obtained prior to July 2, 2005 and Awaiting initial certification or maintenance of continuous certification as a CRNA by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Required
  • ASATT - Certified Anesthesia Tech National certification in anesthesia. Upon Hire Required
  • No prior CRNA experience Required
