Crime Intelligence Analyst Senior
Purpose:
Under general supervision and with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgement, this position is responsible for performing advanced crime and intelligence analysis work for the purpose of reporting and presenting crime information, statistical trends, and criminal intelligence in support of the Austin Police Department.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Performs advanced tactical crime analysis in support on investigations.
Performs advanced tactical crime analysis to support patrol efforts.
Updates and maintains log or database of criminal offenses to facilitate tactical analysis.
Performs strategic crime analysis.
Performs advanced intelligence analysis.
Develops a variety of advanced analytical products.
Facilitates the transfer of crime information between Local, Fusion, Regional, State, and Federal agencies.
Thinks critically, questions assumptions, and avoids bias with respect to sources, research methods, and document creation.
Uses a vast array of software applications and resources, most at an advanced level.
Attends and participates in unit, departmental, and professional meetings.
Works as a leader on teams with other analysts, sworn personnel, and personnel from other agencies to provide analytical assistance, collect and disseminate intelligence, and share resources.
May testify in Court.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Social Science, or in a field of study with an emphasis on research or analysis, plus four (4) years of experience in research, crime analysis, intelligence analysis, and/or interpretation of law enforcement data.
Masters' degree in the fields of study listed above may be substituted for experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
Certification by the International Association of Crime Analysts or the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
None.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using commercial and law enforcement databases such as: Accurint, TLO, N-DEx, Whooster, etc.
Experience with mapping software such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
Experience providing analytical support to patrol operations or criminal investigations including location analysis.
Experience producing strategic or tactical analytical products.
Experience with various open-source intelligence techniques to locate people, information, and identify potential threats/criminal activity.
Ability to travel to more than one work location.
Experience providing leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.
The Crime Intelligence Analyst and Seniors are expected to support the Austin Police Department, the patrol command within the department, and partnering agencies by performing but not limited to the following:
Advanced crime and intelligence analysis work for the purpose of reporting and presenting crime information, statistical trends, and criminal intelligence in support of the Austin Police Department.
Provide advanced analytical support in the form of administrative, tactical, and strategic reports.
This is expected to be accomplished by working closely with sworn staff and other members of the police department.

Payrate:
$28.76hr - $35.59hr
