Position Summary

Van Andel Institute (VAI) is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead the development of enterprise reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions that support informed decision-making across the Operations, Research, and educational areas of the Institute. This role will drive the evolution of VAI's reporting capabilities by designing scalable BI solutions, optimizing business processes, and enabling self-service analytics through modern reporting and visualization tools such as Workday Reporting and Power BI.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of BI solutions, dashboards, scorecards, and reports.

Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights and recommendations.


Ensure data accuracy, consistency, integrity, and quality across reporting platforms.

Develop and maintain Workday reports (Advanced, Composite, Matrix, Trending), Dashboards, Discovery Boards, Worksheets, and advanced calculated fields.


Support implementation and optimization of Workday Reporting, Workday Prism Analytics, Power BI, SSRS, and related tools.

Identify data sources for reporting requirements and lead logical data mapping focusing on data integrity and quality.


Automate reporting processes and improve analytics efficiency.


Train users, mentor junior analysts, and work with the BI architect to develop BI standards and documentation.


Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy requirements.

Monitor BI solutions for performance, scalability, and data quality; troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability.

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


3+ years of Business Intelligence or analytics experience.


Strong experience with Workday Reporting including knowledge of Advanced, Composite, Matrix, and Trending reports, Dashboards, Discovery Boards, Worksheets, and calculated fields.


Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:


Certification in Workday Reporting


Experience with Power BI and PowerQuery


Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, CData, and Workday Prism Analytics.


Experience with SSRS and SQL Server


Experience supporting research, healthcare, higher education, or nonprofit organizations.
