About National Recovery Associates

National Recovery Associates (NRA) is a nationally recognized accounts receivable management company specializing in consumer collections, legal recovery, judgment enforcement, portfolio management, and recovery analytics. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our growing Legal Department in Jacksonville, Florida.


Position Summary

The Legal Assistant provides administrative and litigation support to the Legal Department by reviewing legal documents, maintaining case files, coordinating with attorneys and Clients, tracking deadlines, and ensuring accurate documentation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in consumer collections, is well-versed in litigation documents including Answers, Counterclaims, and Releases, and demonstrates a working understanding of arbitration and appellate processes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and organize legal documents and correspondence, including Answers, Counterclaims, Discovery and Releases.
  • Assist with litigation support and consumer collections activities.
  • Manage Client's trial calendar, including tracking court deadlines, hearing dates, and filing requirements across active matters.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and internal departments.
  • Prepare and review affidavits, pleadings, and other legal documents as directed.
  • Assist with document requests and discovery responses.
  • Support arbitration proceedings, including organizing arbitration filings, correspondence with arbitration forums, and maintaining arbitration case files.
  • Review and track appellate matters, including organizing appeal records, monitoring appellate deadlines, and coordinating with outside counsel.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Support reporting and administrative functions for the Legal Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Litigation Assistant, or Legal Administrative Assistant.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing Answers, Counterclaims, and Releases in a litigation or collections environment.
  • Experience in consumer collections or creditors' rights law.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within consumer collections, creditors' rights, financial services, or civil litigation.
  • Experience supporting attorneys or legal departments in high-volume collection environments.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and litigation processes.
  • Experience with legal document management or case management software to include QLawE or vExchange.
