Seeking 2 - 5 years general Accounting experience including, but not limited to: Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts, assist with month end close, perform journal entries, research discrepancies, analysis, and

AP (Accounts Payable).

Position Status – Full-time, Non-exempt (hourly)

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Target hiring pay range: $18.98 - 23.73 per hour

The Accountant I performs recurring accounting functions and reconciliations while developing professional accounting expertise. This role applies GAAP knowledge to maintain accurate financial records and supports audits, reporting, and month-end close activities under established supervision,


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned

  2. Perform routine accounting and clerical functions including data entry, filing, scanning, and maintenance of accounting records.
  3. Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP and NCUA guidelines.
  4. Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and settlement reports.
  5. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account analysis.
  6. Support accounts payable processes and assist with fixed asset and prepaid accounting.
  7. Assist with preparation of internal financial reports and schedules.
  8. Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  9. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies with guidance.
  10. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate transaction processing.
  11. Maintain working knowledge of accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
  12. Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  13. Demonstrates effective use of written and oral communication as well as builds and maintains positive working relationships with all stakeholders, vendors, leaders, etc.
  14. Participate in self-learning activities to constantly improve skills and abilities to perform the job.
  15. Demonstrates attention to details.
  16. Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders
  17. Comply with all aspects of BSA/AML and OFAC regulations as they relate to this position.
  18. Often required to work under pressure and to respond positively when tight deadlines may develop.
  19. Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role has no direct reports. It may provide day‑to‑day coordination of work through effective stakeholder management and collaborative engagement with internal and external partners.

REQUIRED Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field; 2 years relative work experience or 2 years college course equivalent in lieu of degree
  • 2 to 3 years of relative accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
  • 10-Key calculator, typing, and keying skills: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Technical competence with MS Office products


PREFFERED Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field
  • 3 years of relative accounting work experience
  • Relative work experience at a Credit Union
  • Experience with Symitar

Physical Job Requirements:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines such as calculator, computer, printer, facsimile, telephone, copier, etc. Must be able to stand, bend and stoop as needed. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 5 to 20 pounds.
