Job description

Citi is looking for a commercially minded Associate to join its Digital, Technology & Communications Commercial Banking team in a front-office coverage role. In this position, you will develop core competencies in client management, financial analysis, and credit risk assessment, while working directly alongside senior bankers on meaningful transactions across the Tech and Communications sector. Responsibilities
  • Support senior bankers in managing existing and developing new client relationships, acting as a reliable point of coordination across active mandates.
  • Lead financial analysis and complex financial modeling across the full transaction lifecycle, from initial credit assessment through to deal execution and closing.
  • Conduct credit risk evaluations for new and existing clients, performing due diligence to support informed lending decisions on credit extensions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across Loan Structuring, Syndications, Treasury, Trade Services, and operations to deliver integrated financial solutions to clients.
  • Lead financial analysis and financial modeling across the full transaction lifecycle, from initial credit assessment to deal execution and closing.
  • Research companies and analyze industry dynamics within the Digital, Technology & Communications sector to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Assess risk considerations in business decisions, ensuring client activities align with applicable laws, regulations, and firm policies while maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • Escalate and report control issues with transparency, safeguarding the firm's reputation and assets through sound commercial judgment.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in banking, financial services, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling and financial data analysis, applied to real transactions or client mandates.
  • Ability to produce high-quality presentations that communicate complex financial information clearly to senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work through ambiguous situations and reach well-reasoned conclusions.
  • Advanced fluency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access as core working tools.
  • Commitment to obtaining Series 63 and Series 79 licenses, and passing the SIE examination, within 150 days of joining.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent university-level qualification.

  • Prior experience in middle market banking, with an understanding of the credit and structuring needs of mid-sized corporate clients.
  • Direct client-facing experience in a banking or financial advisory context, with the ability to build credibility and manage relationships independently.
