About the Position:

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable regulations. This role plays a key part in managing the month-end close process, financial reporting, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.


This position is open to in-office or remote candidates local to the Denver Metro Area.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of documented procedures for all accounting staff / functions
  • Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure accuracy of general ledger and account reconciliations
  • Review expense reports and reconcile company credit card program
  • Review timesheets ensuring compliance with EEI travel polices and various state time reporting requirements
  • Support development and maintenance of internal controls and policies
  • Oversee project accounting functions
  • Assist in preparing files for external auditors, appraisers and tax preparers during annual reviews and tax filings as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
  • All other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • Education โ€“ Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting
  • Experience โ€“ 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based construction or engineering services environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and job cost accounting principles
  • Proficient in project accounting software (Deltek preferred) and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work within firm deadlines
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate clearly with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and corporate governance.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
