Job Summary
We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join our team. The Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing customer accounts, securing payments on outstanding balances, maintaining accurate account records, and providing professional customer service throughout the collections process.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Identify and contact customers regarding unpaid and delinquent accounts.
  • Advise customers of outstanding balances and follow up on unpaid accounts.
  • Receive and post customer payments accurately to their accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records and status updates for customer accounts.
  • Monitor aging accounts and follow established collection procedures.
  • Initiate repossession proceedings for equipment or disconnect service when necessary and authorized.
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns regarding billing and account balances.
  • Work with customers to resolve billing and payment issues.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments regarding customer accounts and service status.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling customer account information.
  • Perform other administrative and collection-related duties as assigned.
  • This is a computer-intensive position requiring a minimum of 8 hours per day working on a computer.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial collections experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in billing and/or customer service.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with customers.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be computer proficient and comfortable working on a computer for extended periods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Must have a "whatever it takes" attitude with a friendly, professional, and customer-focused demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
