Job description

Position Summary:
As the Credentialing Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation and operations of the medical staff credentialing function. Ensures accurate, complete and timely functioning of the new appointment and reappointment processes for physicians and advanced practice professionals through primary source verification and preparation of complete files for review by the Medical Staff and Hospital Board. Attend and support departmental meetings as assigned to specifically include the generation of meeting materials (setting agenda, preparation of minutes and tracking participant attendance).
  • Works as a member of the Medical Staff Services team to communicate effectively and to assure credentialing is performed in compliance with Joint Commission standards, NCQA standard and all applicable state and Federal requirements.
  • Coordinates departmental activities that support an effective and efficient credentialing operation.
  • These activities include: the orientation program, licensure and certification expiration; the wide range of communication, from internal notifications of delineation of privileges approvals to external requests for verification.
  • Associates Degree required and certification as a CPCS or CPMSM certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Credentialing Software (Echo or other comparable programs) is also preferred.
