SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who assumes responsibility for a set of cardiorespiratory care and respiratory therapy techniques. They evaluate the user's cardiorespiratory condition for diagnostic purposes or therapeutic monitoring. They help with anesthesia and treat problems that affect the cardiorespiratory system.
They participate in research aimed at the promotion of health and the prevention of disease. They can prescribe medication according to the regulations in force.
They ensure the proper and optimal functioning of the equipment. They plan, deliver and evaluate teaching to users, their relatives and groups of people. They can participate in the teaching of cardiorespiratory care as well as respiratory therapy techniques.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
• Support the team with managing referral requests and emails;
• Provide training to other departments;
• Share responsibilities of the phone helpline;
• Perform pulmonary tests and sleep tests following training;
• Perform any other function as requested by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Member in good standing of the Ordre professionnel des inhalothérapeutes du Québec (OPIQ);
• Diploma of college studies (DEC) in respiratory therapy techniques.
Experience:
• Two (2) years of relevant experience in a hospital or CLSC setting.
Knowledge and skills:
• Knowledge and experience in hospital, public and community health promotion and prevention, and in related approaches, methods, issues and programing (as well as in a First Nations context) is an asset;
• Knowledge of the MSSS programs and regulations with respect to first-line services is an asset;
• Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Miyupimaatisiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and group facilitation skills;
• Excellent interpersonal communication, listening, leadership and teamwork skills;
• Excellent critical-thinking, organizational and decision-making skills;
• Strong interest in developing and writing clinical tools;
• Sense of autonomy, flexibility, tact and empathy;
• Self-starter, creative and open to change.
LANGUAGE
• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
OTHER
• Willing to travel on a regular basis in the Eeyou Istchee communities;
• May include On-call periods.
