Job description

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Environmental Health & Safety Intern supports CK's safety initiatives by working alongside the Safety Director to assist with employee training, conducting audits and inspections, and helping implement safety policies in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulations across all CK Supply locations.
Please note this is a part-time (up to 40 hours), seasonal internship (May-August)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide safety training of employees on various safety topics ensuring compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations
  • Assist in conducting safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Serve a member on the CK Safety Committee
  • Assist in implementing new policies and programs across all CK locations
  • Document findings from safety inspections and audits
  • Assist in developing training materials and safety training for employees
  • Follow and enforce all safety guidelines and requirements including proper personal protective equipment for employees and visitors
  • Adhere to the CK Core Values through behavior and words
  • Other duties, as assigned, within the job classification and business
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be actively working on obtaining a degree in Environmental Health, Safety, or a related field
  • Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, FDA, and other safety regulations preferred
  • Capable of completing basic mathematical calculations and entering correct information on logs and other reports
  • Ability to perform public speaking and presentations
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Vision correctable to within normal range for vehicle driving and completion of reports
  • Must be able to work independently while also working with a team to meet shared goals
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to move or lift products and materials of varied sizes and weights, sometimes in excess of 50 pounds
  • Position requires prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing
  • Must have the ability to operate all necessary equipment
