PRIMARY PURPOSE 

Music Editors at OCP are the frontline stewards of both the musical integrity of a song and all its relevant metadata, including credits, copyrights, and royalty shares. Preserving and promoting the intellectual property of our composers is one of our most important duties. Beyond having the qualifications and experiences (listed below) that are required to fulfill this role, our ideal candidate is passionate about musical excellence, collaborative workflows, and clean, error-free data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - 

  • Edit and prepare music for publication: plan, input/edit (using Dorico notation software), proof, coordinate, and communicate effectively with composers and other internal and external staff members as appropriate and needed.
  • Maintain and support key music data tools and editing processes: use established correction processes; be(come) proficient in using the Master Music Data Base (MMDB); use established quality control processes and actively participate in making improvements.
  • Support both internal and external customers: answer customer calls, emails, and/or questions from Customer Success staff; describe OCP products at meetings, events, and/or conventions; model good employee attitudes and behaviors.
  • Contribute to OCP's organizational health by consistently exhibiting behaviors that exemplify our Core Values of humility, empathy, and passion

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - 

  • May sit on music selection committees
  • Music video editing, if incoming skill set is commensurate
  • Certain copywriting for marketing materials, such as octavo or other new product descriptions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE


Bachelor's Degree in Music (performance, education, theory, composition, etc.)

Two (2) years professional experience in liturgical music, music performance, music education, and/or publishing

Advanced knowledge of music theory and music notation software (ex. Finale or Dorico, the latter of which is our in-house notation software)

Proficiency in one or more instruments and/or vocal performance

Piano/keyboard proficiency 

Intermediate knowledge of database programs (e.g., Filemaker or Excel)

Demonstrated knowledge of-or familiarity with-OCP styles and products

Clear, precise, and professional oral and written communication skills, knowledge of OCP products and services, and music in liturgical settings (mainly Catholic).

Strong organizational & time management skills

Excellent interpersonal skills



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE


Master's Degree in Music (performance, education, theory, composition, etc.)

Three (3) years professional experience with liturgical music and/or music publishing

Demonstrated fluency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft programs, such as InDesign, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator and Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and/or Outlook, respectively 

Demonstrated fluency with database programs (such as Filemaker or Excel)

Project Management experience (esp. if certified or credentialed)

Advanced knowledge and professional use of Dorico notation software

Conversational level in Spanish or better


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Estimated starting pay range between $60,200 - $64,600 per year depending on qualifications and experience.
