Job description

Video Producer
Level: Senior (Level III) | Work Location: On-Site - Washington, DC (telework may be authorized)
โš  This position is contingent upon contract award.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Red Carrot is seeking a Senior (Level III) Video Producer to support a high-visibility federal communications contract. This role produces discrete video projects from beginning to end - research, scripting, shooting, and editing - creating digital-first content optimized for social media engagement and delivered worldwide, frequently in multiple languages, through digital and traditional media outlets. Senior producers operate independently, exercising judgment over all aspects of assigned productions, including quick-turn video content produced while traveling with senior government principals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Produce discrete video projects from beginning to end, including research, scripting, shooting, and editing
  • Create digital-first videos by integrating strategies, styles, and techniques that optimize social media engagement; produce and direct short and long-form programming using mixed media including video, audio, graphics, and animation
  • Perform non-linear video editing using professional editing systems and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and plugins such as Red Giant; create animation and motion graphics using Adobe After Effects
  • Shoot in EFP/ENG configurations using professional cameras and kits, interchangeable lenses, and tools such as lights, sliders, and gimbals to achieve diverse production styles in challenging environments, including run-and-gun scenarios
  • Develop and pitch creative ideas for digital-first social media videos; prepare scripts and storyboards designed to maximize engagement, researching and sourcing material as needed
  • Coordinate shoot and travel logistics and prepare associated draft budgets
  • Capture newsworthy and historical events with an eye toward amplifying the customer's policy priorities
  • Operate solo without direct supervision when assigned, including serving as a dedicated producer accompanying senior principals on travel to produce quick-turn video content for the customer's social media accounts
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders who may not understand digital video best practices, advising on how to use video to reach online audiences
  • Collaborate with translators, copy editors, policy teams, and outside vendors to ensure all aspects of a production go smoothly and deadlines are met
  • Manage video assets using a media asset management (MAM) system, adhering to established SOPs and best practices for folder structures, file naming, and metadata tagging
  • Use social media analytics and performance data to inform creative and content decisions with the goal of increasing reach and engagement
  • Support studio capabilities including green screen shooting and lighting; track current events, U.S. politics, geopolitics, economics, and foreign policy news
  • Haul, set up, strike, pack, return, and properly stow camera, ground-support, audio, and lighting equipment for both studio and field production
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Multimedia Arts, or similar required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of full-time relevant professional experience independently shooting and editing videos
  • Experience producing discrete video projects from beginning to end, including research, scripting, shooting, and editing
  • Experience editing using the Adobe Creative Suite and manipulating Adobe After Effects motion graphics
  • Experience developing and pitching creative ideas for digital-first social media videos
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media video trends and the ability to use performance data to inform creative decisions with the goal of increasing reach and engagement
  • Experience coordinating with government stakeholders who may not understand digital video best practices and how to use video to reach online audiences
  • Ability to coordinate with translators, copy editors, and outside vendors to execute projects, ensuring all aspects of a production go smoothly and deadlines are met
  • Ability to adhere to established SOPs and best practices for folder structures, file naming, and media asset management (MAM) systems
  • Ability to work well both independently and within groups; must be able to operate solo, without direct supervision, exercising judgment over all aspects of assigned production responsibilities
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed, travel domestically and internationally on short notice (extensive travel may be required at this level), and remain on location to fulfill production requirements on tight deadlines
  • Valid passport required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) clearance
  • Position is physically demanding: producers are required to haul and set up camera, ground-support, audio, and lighting equipment for studio and field production, and to strike, pack, return, and properly stow equipment after use; must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
