GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Project Manager is responsible for identifying projects, preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for erection of bridges, both steel and concrete along with concrete structures such as parking garages. The primary job functions include review of design and production drawings, plans and specifications, and, when required, job site visits to prepare complete cost information necessary to perform the required work, monitor the progress of projects including processing change orders and maintain the project forecast to accurately reflect the P&L on the project. Interact with customers, owners, and other personnel outside the department and outside of the Company when required.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • BS Degree - Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in estimating erection of bridge structures/ concrete parking garages including knowledge of applicable codes, preparation of erection procedures schematics and timeline criteria.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with design drawings and schematic diagrams to complete the cost estimating process.
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing or assembly processes.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possess proficient PC skills and skills in Microsoft suite and automated spreadsheet or commercial estimating software.
  • Experience with SAP software

DIMENSIONS (SALES VOLUME, TOTAL EMPLOYEES REPORTING, PAYROLL, ETC.):
  • Estimating work valued at over $10 million in revenue.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Reports to the Vice President, Managing Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Grow the company's backlog through increase sales.
  • Review of design and production drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy of project estimates.
  • Job site visits (when required) to prepare complete cost information necessary to perform the required work, negotiate change orders / back charges.
  • Prepare weekly plans for projects including manpower requirements and weekly expectations
  • Consult outside sources for plans and specifications.
  • Develop estimate for Crew sizes and hours needed to complete project.
  • Estimate the number and size of Cranes needed and locations for Crane placements.
  • Required to develop and track the schedule for job completion.
  • Apply applicable codes and prepare erection procedure schematics.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Establish proficiency in PC skills and the use of automated spreadsheets and commercial estimating systems and techniques.
  • Maintain accurate project forecasts in SAP system.
